El pasado viernes y el sábado de esta semana pasada no fueron días cualquieras; era la culminación de semanas de ensayos para un evento de canto temático de Disney, y yo estaba allí, justo en el ojo del huracán creativo, estaba allí con mis pinceles y paletas listas para dar vida a la magia, mi misión era transformar a cada joven talento presente en su personaje de ensueño, llevando el encanto de la animación a la vida real.

Saludos mi gente bonita de #Hololotus en días pasados, viví una maravillosa experiencia que sacó de mí, sentimientos profundos e inesperados, fue algo verdaderamente transformador que me recordó la belleza de conectar con el momento presente y con las emociones que a veces me guardo. ​Me gustaría compartir más detalles con ustedes: ¿quieren que les cuente qué fue lo que viví, dónde sucedió o qué me hizo sentir exactamente?

Desde el momento en que crucé la puerta del Teatro Luis Mariano Rivera de la ciudad de Cumaná estado Sucre, supe que no sería una jornada de maquillaje tradicional, para mí esto era arte, caracterización y un poco de vestuario.

El espacio estaba lleno de disfraces espectaculares, telas brillantes, tutús vaporosos, sombreros, pelucas y, por supuesto, la inconfundible vestimenta de personajes icónicos del maravilloso mundo de Disney, el lugar de trabajo que me asignaron, está estratégicamente ubicado frente a un gran espejo con luces de tocador, se convirtió de manera magistral en un espacio propicio para la transformación.

El primer encuentro fue con una de las futuras princesas, una chica dulce llamada Antonella que iba a interpretar a Rapunzel, su traje, una blusa de color lila con detalles de cordones y mangas abullonadas, ya era perfecto su oufit, y mi tarea era enfocarme en un look que transmitiera juventud, inocencia y el toque de fantasía que requería la historia de este personaje.

Opté por un maquillaje que resaltara sus ojos con tonos malvas y púrpuras, un sutil delineado y unas pestañas definidas, en cuanto a su icónica cabellera dorada, fue colocada luego, pero mientras se recogió el cabello y lo cubrió para aguantarlo, el resultado final fue un rostro iluminado y una sonrisa radiante, lista para cantar sobre sueños y linternas flotantes.

Mientras terminaba de maquillar a Rapunzel, noté a otra joven vestida casualmente, con los rulos aún puestos y unas gafas sobre la cabeza, ella tenía esa chispa de estrella pop, a ella le hice un maquillaje más sobrio pero impecable, que me encantó un smoky eye suave en tonos tierra y un labial nude, este tipo de looks son para mi un respiro, ya que equilibran la intensidad de las caracterizaciones más elaboradas y me permiten agilizar el trabajo y así atendí a varias niñas y jóvenes.

El verdadero desafío llegó con los personajes que requerían un cambio total, aquellos que saltaban del mundo de la fantasía al arte del maquillaje artístico, fue así como el siguiente en mi silla para maquillar fue a Jeremy que iba a interpretar a él personaje del cangrejo gigante de la película de Moana.

Su caracterización fue un derroche de color, lo trabaje con tonos neon, fucsia, amarillo, naranja y un diseño geométrico de puntos y líneas que cubría la mayor parte de su rostro, yo utilice pintura corporal de alta pigmentación para asegurar que los colores se vieran vivos bajo las luces del escenario, asegurandome que cada línea y cada punto se aplicaron con precisión, creando una maquillaje espectacular.

Fue un trabajo minucioso que exigía paciencia y sobre todo una mano firme. Ver su reacción, una mezcla de sorpresa y deleite al verse transformado, fue una de las mayores satisfacciones de las personas que atendí el día sábado.

Luego, vino el turno del arte corporal, un artista maravilloso quien encarno a Maui de la película de Moana, aquí, el pincel se convirtió en un bolígrafo tatuador, usando pintura negra sobre su torso, recreé una intrincada red de patrones tribales, líneas gruesas y símbolos curvilíneos que cubrían su pecho, brazos y abdomen. El detalle era crucial; cada espiral y cada banda geométrica tenían que ser coherentes y audaces.

Mi maquillaje me tomo unas 3 horas que combinado con un pequeño faldón de hojas, crearon un look impactante, una verdadera obra viviente, este trabajo no es solo maquillaje; es dibujar un disfraz directamente sobre la piel, creando un efecto tridimensional que las telas a menudo no pueden lograr.

El elenco de Disney no estaría completo sin sus villanos y sus homenajes culturales, una de las caracterizaciones más icónicas y divertidas fue la de la Catrina de Mamá Imelda, de la película de coco esta chica requería un maquillaje de Día de Muertos con un toque Disney, así que trazamos el contorno del cráneo, rellenamos las cuencas de los ojos con sombras oscuras y delineamos los dientes sobre los labios con una precisión escalofriante es un arte, terminamos el look con una corona de flores color rosa, amarillo y coral, que contrastaba maravillosamente con el diseño de calavera, además aplicamos gliter y detalles florales en la frente y las mejillas le dio un aire festivo y respetuoso con la tradición.

OTro personaje a quien me tocó dar vida fue el del Dr. Facilier de la película la princesa y el sapo, y siendo sincera quizás fue este maquillaje que más me emocionó, por tratarse de la persona quien lo interpreta, mi querido Rosheed a quien quiero como un hijo, y el cual me emociona verlo actuar y cantar, su look es puro misterio y magia vudú, y su maquillaje fue dramático Pero sencillo un smoky eye intenso, pómulos marcados con contouring oscuro y el característico bigote, su atuendo una chaqueta púrpura brillante, sombrero de copa con calavera y bastón completaron la transformación en este hechicero sombrío, siendo este uno de los looks más teatrales de la noche.

En medio del frenesí, también hubo momentos tiernos, como maquillar a mi pequeño sobrino José Daniel y transformarlo en Coco, con la base blanca que lograron convertirlo en Miguel de la película de Coco, trabajar con el pequeño requiero delicadeza y velocidad, asegurandome que el proceso fuese divertido, y no estresante.

Finalmente, también tuve el placer de maquillar a otra princesa, vestida de blanco y azul claro, evocando a Elsa de la película Frozen 2, su maquillaje fue en tonos fríos, destellos de glitter plateado en los ojos y una piel de porcelana, lista para evocar el hielo y la nieve con su canción, la niña quedó hermosa.

Trabajar en este evento de Disney fue mucho más que aplicar base, sombras y maquillaje, fue para mí un ejercicio de empatía y creatividad, cada rostro era un lienzo para mí y cada participante un soñador a punto de subir al escenario y traer a la vida cada personaje de las películas de Disney. Para mí el verdadero arte reside en entender qué se quiere transmitir y traducir esa emoción al lenguaje visual del maquillaje.

Me llevo conmigo la imagen de los grupos posando juntos, cada uno luciendo sus maquillaje y trajes, fue en esos momentos donde se vio la magia del teatro, cómo personajes de diferentes mundos de Disney se unen bajo el mismo techo, listos para contar sus historias a través de la música.

Al final del día, mis manos estaban manchadas de pintura corporal, mis pinceles requerían una limpieza profunda, y yo estaba exhausta, pero mi corazón estaba lleno de satisfacción, pero sobretodo estaba lleno de emociones. Fui testigo de cómo el maquillaje no solo transforma la apariencia, sino que infunde confianza y carácter, y yo puedo comprobarlo, ya que cada uno de esos jóvenes cuando subieron al escenario, ya no eran solo cantantes; eran princesas, guerreros, villanos, catrinas, y más, ellos encontraron el punto exacto donde la ilusión se encuentra con la realidad, y yo tuve el honor de ser parte de ese viaje.

Definitivamente, fue una experiencia enriquecedora que me recordó el poder de la caracterización y la alegría universal que evoca Disney. ¡Ya estoy esperando el próximo evento para desatar mi creatividad nuevamente! Y lo mejor de todo poder por medio de este tipo de practicas liberar el estrés al que estoy sometida en estos días, definitivamente disfrute mucho.

Last Friday and Saturday were not just any days; they were the culmination of weeks of rehearsals for a Disney-themed singing event, and I was there, right in the eye of the creative storm, with my brushes and palettes ready to bring the magic to life. My mission was to transform each young talent present into their dream character, bringing the charm of animation to real life.

From the moment I walked through the doors of the Luis Mariano Rivera Theater in the city of Cumaná, Sucre state, I knew that this would not be a day of traditional makeup. For me, this was art, characterization, and a little bit of costume design.

The space was filled with spectacular costumes, shiny fabrics, flowing tutus, hats, wigs, and, of course, the unmistakable attire of iconic characters from the wonderful world of Disney. My assigned workspace was strategically located in front of a large mirror with dressing table lights, masterfully transformed into a space conducive to transformation.

The first meeting was with one of the future princesses, a sweet girl named Antonella who was going to play Rapunzel. Her costume, a lilac blouse with lace details and puffed sleeves, was already perfect, and my task was to focus on a look that conveyed youth, innocence, and the touch of fantasy that this character's story required.

I opted for makeup that would highlight her eyes with mauve and purple tones, subtle eyeliner, and defined lashes. As for her iconic golden hair, it was styled later, but while her hair was pulled back and covered to keep it in place, the end result was an illuminated face and a radiant smile, ready to sing about dreams and floating lanterns.

As I finished applying Rapunzel's makeup, I noticed another young woman dressed casually, with her curlers still in and her glasses on her head. She had that pop star sparkle, so I gave her a more understated but flawless makeup look, which I loved: a soft smoky eye in earth tones and a nude lipstick. These types of looks are a breath of fresh air for me, as they balance out the intensity of the more elaborate characterizations and allow me to speed up my work, so I was able to attend to several girls and young women.

The real challenge came with the characters that required a total transformation, those who jumped from the world of fantasy to the art of makeup. That's how Jeremy, who was going to play the giant crab character from the movie Moana, ended up in my chair next.

Her characterization was a riot of color. I worked with neon tones, fuchsia, yellow, orange, and a geometric design of dots and lines that covered most of her face. I used highly pigmented body paint to ensure that the colors would look vivid under the stage lights, making sure that every line and every dot was applied with precision, creating spectacular makeup.

It was meticulous work that required patience and, above all, a steady hand. Seeing their reaction, a mixture of surprise and delight at seeing themselves transformed, was one of the greatest satisfactions for the people I served on Saturday.

Then it was time for body art, a wonderful artist who embodied Maui from the movie Moana. Here, the brush became a tattoo pen, using black paint on his torso, I recreated an intricate network of tribal patterns, thick lines, and curvilinear symbols that covered his chest, arms, and abdomen. Detail was crucial; every spiral and every geometric band had to be consistent and bold.

My makeup took about three hours, which, combined with a small skirt made of leaves, created a striking look, a true living work of art. This work is not just makeup; it is drawing a costume directly onto the skin, creating a three-dimensional effect that fabrics often cannot achieve.

The Disney cast would not be complete without its villains and cultural tributes. One of the most iconic and entertaining characterizations was that of Mamá Imelda's Catrina from the movie Coco. This girl required Day of the Dead makeup with a Disney twist, so we traced the outline of the skull, filled in the eye sockets with dark shadows, and outlined the teeth on the lips with chilling precision—it's an art. We finished the look with a crown of pink, yellow, and coral flowers, which contrasted beautifully with the skull design. We also applied glitter and floral details to the forehead and cheeks, giving it a festive air that was respectful of tradition.

Another character I had the opportunity to bring to life was Dr. Facilier from the movie The Princess and the Frog, and to be honest, this was perhaps the makeup that excited me the most, because of the person who plays him, my dear Rosheed, whom I love like a son, and whom I am thrilled to see acting and singing. His look is pure mystery and voodoo magic, and his makeup was dramatic but simple: intense smoky eyes, cheekbones highlighted with dark contouring, and his characteristic mustache. His outfit—a shiny purple jacket, top hat with a skull, and cane—completed the transformation into this dark sorcerer, making it one of the most theatrical looks of the night.

Amidst the frenzy, there were also tender moments, such as putting makeup on my little nephew José Daniel and transforming him into Coco, with the white foundation that managed to turn him into Miguel from the movie Coco. Working with the little one required delicacy and speed, making sure the process was fun and not stressful.

Finally, I also had the pleasure of doing the makeup for another princess, dressed in white and light blue, reminiscent of Elsa from the movie Frozen 2. Her makeup was in cool tones, with flashes of silver glitter on her eyes and porcelain skin, ready to evoke ice and snow with her song. The girl looked beautiful.

Working at this Disney event was much more than applying foundation, eyeshadow, and makeup; for me, it was an exercise in empathy and creativity. Each face was a canvas for me, and each participant was a dreamer about to take the stage and bring each character from the Disney movies to life. For me, true art lies in understanding what you want to convey and translating that emotion into the visual language of makeup.

I take with me the image of the groups posing together, each one showing off their makeup and costumes. It was in those moments that the magic of theater was revealed, as characters from different Disney worlds came together under one roof, ready to tell their stories through music.

At the end of the day, my hands were stained with body paint, my brushes needed a thorough cleaning, and I was exhausted, but my heart was full of satisfaction and, above all, emotions. I witnessed how makeup not only transforms appearance but also instills confidence and character, and I can attest to this because when each of those young people took the stage, they were no longer just singers; they were princesses, warriors, villains, catrinas, and more. They found the exact point where illusion meets reality, and I had the honor of being part of that journey.

It was definitely an enriching experience that reminded me of the power of characterization and the universal joy that Disney evokes. I'm already looking forward to the next event so I can unleash my creativity again! And best of all, through this type of activity, I was able to release the stress I've been under lately. I definitely enjoyed it a lot.
