RE: Instruction in Counseling: Biblical and Accurate

The action-oriented emphasis resonates instruction isn't dumping facts; it's aiming for Christ-likeness (Colossians 1:9-12). Paul prayed for knowledge so that believers would "live worthy of the Lord" productive, powerful, grateful lives. If the counseling doesn't move people toward godly action, Counseling failed.
I love the "put off/put on" principle. It's not enough to say "stop gossiping" we need to help people "start building others up with your words." Negative prohibition without positive replacement leaves a vacuum sin rushes to fill.
Biblical instruction without compassion and data-gathering is lifeless. But compassion without accurate biblical truth is just therapy. We need both wrapping God's precisely handled Word in genuine care, pointing every counselee to Christ, the gospel, and transformed living. This means we must study Scripture deeply, interpret it honestly in context, and apply it practically toward fruit-bearing lives. No shortcuts, no misquotes, no shallow spirituality just God's sufficient Word faithfully taught for real change.
