RE: Why Change Begins with God’s Covenant

This lecture completely shifts how I see biblical counseling. Instead of jumping straight to how people change, it pushes me to ask why first. Why did Adam die after eating the fruit? Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? Why does the Father give people to the Son (John 17:6)? These aren't just theology questions—they're the foundation for understanding real transformation.

The Westminster Confession puts it plainly: we're worlds apart from God. The gap between Creator and creature is so huge that we could never reach Him or enjoy Him on our own. But here's the beautiful part—God didn't leave us stranded. He reached down and made a covenant with us. That's pure grace. We didn't earn it, didn't deserve it, couldn't manufacture it. He bridged the impossible gap Himself.

This changes everything about counseling. I can't rely on self-help tricks or worldly psychology to fix people's deepest problems. Only God's Word and His Spirit bring genuine, lasting change.
