Waiting for the Storm to Pass

Hello dear Holos & Lotus community,
Working in a hotel in Varadero has taught me that no two days are exactly alike. Most mornings begin with sunshine, people making plans for the beach, and the quiet excitement that comes with a day by the sea. But every now and then, the weather reminds us that nature always has the final word.
One afternoon, dark clouds gathered much faster than anyone expected. Within minutes, the wind became stronger, the palm trees began to sway, and heavy rain covered the hotel windows. The view of the beach disappeared behind the curtain of water.
Many guests moved into the lobby, watching the storm through the large glass windows. Some were disappointed because they had planned to spend the day by the sea. Others looked at their phones, hoping the weather forecast would improve. A few simply sat quietly, listening to the sound of the rain.
Inside the hotel, everything continued at a different pace. Coffee was served, tea became more popular than cold drinks, conversations grew longer, and people who had never met before started talking while they waited for the weather to change.
As I continued my work, I noticed something that made me smile. The storm had not only changed the landscape outside; it had also changed the rhythm of the people inside.
Sometimes we only slow down because life gives us no other choice.
As I watched the rain run down the glass, I realized that everyone was waiting for the same thing, even if each person had a different reason. Some were waiting for the sun to return, others for a planned excursion to begin, and perhaps someone was simply enjoying an unexpected pause. It reminded me that patience often looks different from one person to another, but we all need it at some point in life.
At 50 years old, I have learned that storms are part of every life. Some arrive with rain and strong winds. Others come in silence, carrying worries, uncertainty, or unexpected changes. We cannot stop them from coming, just as we cannot ask the clouds to move away.
What we can choose is how we live while they are here.
Watching the rain fall behind the lobby windows reminded me that peace is not always found when the sky is clear. Sometimes it is found while we wait for the clouds to pass, sharing a warm drink, speaking kindly to someone, or simply accepting that not everything is under our control.
The storm outside eventually ended. Little by little, the rain stopped, the light returned, and the sea looked calm again, as if nothing had happened.
Life often does the same.
The difficult moments rarely last forever. They ask us to be patient, to trust time, and to remember that even the strongest rain cannot remain in the sky forever.
Perhaps that is why every storm leaves behind more than wet ground.
Sometimes it also leaves us a little calmer than before.
Thank you for reading.

For some reason I love having storms and rain outside and either stay in the house watching it or even driving in my car. It feels like all by problems are washed away with it...
Thank you for sharing that. I understand exactly what you mean. There is something very calming about watching the rain from a safe place. It seems to wash away not only the dust outside, but also some of the worries we carry inside. Thank you for reading and for sharing your beautiful thought.

This is a powerful realization. Thank you for sharing it here. Just as storms or rain invite us to slow down, knowing they will eventually stop and the sky will clear up, problems in life invite us to pause and understand that they too shall pass.
Thank you 🤗
