I love this topic. And of a truth, when it comes to getting/buying a house, most people focus on how convenient and comfortable it is. Some would rather go for a ready-made house. They don't mind paying more as long as they have nothing to worry about. No need for repairs, renovations, repainting, and all. And of a truth, there's absolutely nothing wrong with moving into a house that has everything ready.

But a house that needs some repairs and touches is different. I agree that it would take time, effort, and money. A lot of things might need to be done, from repainting to plumbing work to tiling and the rest. It does look like hard work or trouble on the surface. But I feel that's exactly why giving the house some has meaning. An already made house that's just ready for a move-in is constructed in a way that the builder feels is right or sees is in vogue. But one that is not ready-made and needs some fixings and repairs gives one a chance to shape one's environment; you get to create and furnish it in a way that you want, in your own taste.

I would go for a house that needs fixing. Yes, I understand that it's hard work, I understand that I would spend, and I understand that it would take time, but then I'm ready to be patient and give it all it takes. To me, I'm all about the satisfaction at the end. I want to create what I want and not settle for something that's already on ground. There's a different kind of feeling you get from putting effort into transforming something.

It would also go a long way in teaching me to plan and budget. I would take my time to see things that might have gone wrong or unnoticed in an already made home. And I would put effort into making this choice of mine worth it.

Of course, not everyone would go for this; we are all different. Some would prefer a ready made home; at least you get to move in and start life almost immediately. And it's okay; I respect your choice. But for people like me who like to create their own thing and be a part of it, then the house that needs repair is the best choice. It is not about us liking to stress ourselves with unnecessary work; it is about the satisfaction, the value, and the long-term reward.

The difference isn't far-fetched; one is ready and allows for immediate comfort, while the other gives control and allows you to transform your space into something you really want, something extraordinary. My choice might take a lot of hard work, but then, I get to shape/transform it the way I want it. But then again, I've seen a lot so I can tell you this for free, most of this ready-made also still get some refixing at the end, most people still change and fix one or two things to blend into their taste. I have a boss in real estate sector, and he said this things, that most people still complain about the size of a room, or color of the interior, and at the end they end up joining the library together with another part of the house to make space and the likes.
