A Message From The Other Side.

Well, I wouldn't want to go that much spiritual, but then, I feel dreams are a way God speaks to us. After the hustle and bustle of the day, we decide to rest up for the day. He comes to paint certain pictures in our heads, though at times it might not make sense, but if we think through it deeply, we would discover that it actually touches something deep inside of us.

Well, I didn't really believe so much in dreams before, not until the passing of one of my closest people. She had been sick for quite a while, but this particular night, I saw her in my dreams. She was sitting with me on the bed, peeling an orange with her wrapper a little bit loose, and the smile on her face was the same as ever. Not only that, but she called me by the name she loves most, "Feranmi." She told me to tell her daughter to be strong and not think; she asked that she should not cry and that she will always be there for her. She asked me to not worry as well. When I woke up the following morning, I could smell the orange peels in my room. I didn't think much of it. About 4-5 hours later, my dad was called to say that she had passed away a few minutes ago. Now tell me, how do we explain that with science?

Some say dreams aren't something to worry about, that it's just the brain getting itself busy, other times it just come to replay certain moments form our day. True right, but then again, how do we explain that a person dreams that someone dies and the following day or next he hears wailings and mournings, or how do we explain that someone dreams of someone they haven't seen in years and the following week they meet? It only proves that, most times dreams comes with messages of the future.

I remembered a time I saw myself walking barefoot on broken bottles. I wasn't there alone; I was with people, people that I know. The funny part is, I was the only one walking on broken bottles. Well, well, I never attached much meaning to it, not until I started experiencing things the following week. It just seems as if everything isn't working fine for me; plans got messed up, work became somehow, and friends started acting somehow. That dream was a warning in disguise, and I never paid attention to it. There are times that our spirit sees dangers before our physical eyes do.

Well, I can't really say for other places, but here in Nigeria, we take dreams seriously, especially our parents. You just don't tell them you had a dream and see the level of concentration they will give to you. They will begin leading prayer points and the like. Tell your pastor and see his reactions too, straight up to the story of Joseph followed by prayer sessions. These things sound funny, but we kind of believe that the spiritual world talks to us. And even beyond just talking, almost everything takes place in the spiritual before manifesting in the physical, so we are at advantage if God has decided to bless us with dreams just so to pass some messages across to us.

Personally, I have come to believe that dreams aren't random. I very well believe that they carry with them messages, maybe about our fears, desires, or people. Of a truth not all of it will come to pass, but some will, and a lot of it will remind you to start paying attention to even the simplest things.

I think God intentionally made it that way. He made it so that the answers to some of the things we pray for/about in the day come to us at night when we will be calm and not get distracted by the chaos and hustle of the day.
