El Abrazo (de la serie "D-Construcciones")/ The Embrace (from the series "D-constructions" [ESP-ENG]

Hola, familia hermosa y creativa!!!

Hace unos días me ví involucrada en la convocatoria que lanzara la comunidad amiga #Holos-lotus en la que el arte se identifica con una manera de lograr bienestar trabajando con nuestras manos, una forma de sustento espiritual propio.

Dentro de ese reto creativo, que contó con el auspicio de #HiveArte, pude realizar algunas piezas y, ciertamente, fue una experiencia enriquecedora que me conectó mucho más con mi expresión plástica.

¿Por qué les cuento esto?- se estarán preguntando. Pues es muy simple, durante los procesos creativos surgieron nuevas ideas, proyectos y otras maneras de contribuir al enriquecimiento del alma. Encontré otros temas, técnicas que bien dialogan con mi visión y concepto, con esta necesidad de decir. De ahí que me he propuesto continuar trabajando en ese sentido dentro de una serie a la que he llamado D-Construcciones y de la que hoy les comparto la primera pieza.

El abrazo muestra una ilusión vista desde dos posibles puntos. Un gato es abrazado por unas manos mientras se acomoda en ese cálido gesto.

Como ven es una pieza que se basa en el contraste y que se inspira, en dos de los grandes movimientos del siglo XX que más discursaron en cuanto a la percepción formal : el Pop Art y el Op Art.

Con estos referentes tomé la repetición y la serialización de la imagen como vehículo para narrar dos puntos de vista para narrar la sensación del abrazo: el punto de quien lo da y el de quién le recibe. El gato es la figura icónica que seleccioné por esa dualidad, también a propósito del concepto global a transmitir, que posee al ser un animal muy afectuoso pero con un espíritu independiente.

Sin embargo, el recurso de afectar las construcciones perceptivas del espectador, en lugar de ser con colores vibrantes, la propongo con el alto contraste en blanco y negro, más en el sentido del Op. La forma sugerida y residual da la impresión del movimiento y del oculto sentido que, según los Principios de Cierre y Relación de Figura-Fondo (Leyes de Organización de la Gestalt), permite que el receptor de la imagen complete la idea de la forma que se sugiere dada su experiencia con el medio y la comprensión de la forma como parte significante dentro del todo. Nuestro cerebro es capaz de decodificar estos detalles.

El proceso

Antes de mostrar el paso a paso, creo necesario también hablar de los materiales que empleé para realizar la pieza

Materiales

Cartulina cromada negra

Cartulina blanca

Cuchillas Exacto

Lápiz

Pegamento en en barra

La cartulina cromada recuerda a esa masividad del discurso que sostenía el estilo Pop al identificarse con el material de las publicaciones seriadas de revistas.

Paso a paso

Primero dibujé la silueta del gato entre los brazos en la cara blanca de la cartulina cromada. Obviamente , tuve en cuenta que tenía que dibujar como en espejo, la imagen inversa, para cuando colocara la silueta sobre el fondo.

Una vez plasmada la figura procedí a calar la forma con mucho cuidado.

Pegué la silueta en negro sobre la cartulina blanca.

Pegué la pieza "residual" en la cartulina

Añadí por último una pieza para colgar

Y, listo!!! Aquí pueden comprobar el resultado

Como ven esta es una manera muy simple de realizar una obra decorativa que podemos colgar en cualquier pared de nuestra casa o lugar de estudio o trabajo. Tiene posibilidades infinitas y siempre podemos encontrar un diseño llamativo según nuestra intención para significar el mensaje que deseemos.

Espero que este post les haya resultado interesante y que se animen a intentar algo así. Es muy gratificante contemplar el resultado de un trabajo hecho con nuestras propias manos. Pero, esa es una verdad que todos sabemos y aplicamos en esta comunidad.

Hello, beautiful and creative family!!!

A few days ago, I found myself involved in the call for entries launched by the friendly community #Holos-lotus, in which art is identified as a way of achieving well-being through working with our hands, a form of spiritual sustenance.

As part of this creative challenge, sponsored by #HiveArte, I was able to create some pieces, and it was certainly an enriching experience that connected me much more with my artistic expression.

Why am I telling you this? You may be wondering. Well, it's very simple: during the creative processes, new ideas, projects, and other ways to contribute to the enrichment of the soul emerged. I discovered other themes and techniques that speak well to my vision and concept, to this need to express myself. Hence, I have decided to continue working in this direction within a series I have called D-constructions, from which I am sharing the first piece with you today.

The Embrace depicts an illusion seen from two possible perspectives. A cat is embraced by hands as it settles into that warm gesture. As you can see, it's a piece based on contrast and inspired by two of the great 20th-century movements that most strongly reflected formal perception: Pop Art and Op Art.

With these references, I used the repetition and serialization of the image as a vehicle to convey two points of view to describe the sensation of a hug: the point of view of the giver and the receiver. The cat is the iconic figure I selected for this duality, also in keeping with the overall concept to be conveyed, as it is a very affectionate animal with an independent spirit.

However, the resource of affecting the viewer's perceptual constructions, rather than with vibrant colors, I propose with high contrast black and white, more in the sense of Op. The suggested and residual form gives the impression of movement and a hidden meaning that, according to the Principles of Closure and Figure-Ground Relationship (Gestalt Laws of Organization), allows the viewer of the image to complete the idea of the suggested form given their experience with the medium and their understanding of the form as a significant part of the whole. Our brain is capable of decoding these details.

The Process

Before showing the step-by-step instructions, I think it's also necessary to talk about the materials I used to make the piece.

Materials

Black chrome cardstock
White cardstock
Exacto blades
Pencil
Glue stick

The chrome cardstock is reminiscent of the massiveness of the discourse that sustained the Pop style, identifying with the material of magazine serials.

Step by Step

First, I drew the silhouette of the cat between its arms on the white side of the chrome cardstock. Obviously, I kept in mind that I had to draw a mirror image, the reverse image, for when I placed the silhouette on the background.

Once the figure was created, I carefully cut out the shape.

I glued the black silhouette onto the white cardstock.

I glued the "waste" piece to the cardstock. Finally,

I added a hanging piece.

And that's it!!! You can see the result here.

As you can see, this is a very simple way to make a decorative piece that we can hang on any wall in our home, study, or work space. It has endless possibilities, and we can always find a striking design tailored to our needs to convey the message we want.
