Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Opening Eight Gladius Packs and Upgrading Cardss

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! Our guild just finished our brawl. We did not do too well this brawl only ranking in sixth place. My own performance was deplorable as well, only winning two battles out of eight. We still earned some decent Merits and SPS in this brawl.

Purchasing Gladius Packs

I have over sixteen thousand Merits which I used to buy eight Gladius packs. Each pack contains five cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. This means I will have forty new cards added to my collection which I can use to upgrade my existing cards.

I'm happy with today's pull. Out of forty cards, incuded among those are two legendaries, an epic and several rares. There are a lot of cards I can upgrade with today's purchase.

Upgrading Cards

We can upgrade the level of cards by combining similar cards. If you have the required number of cards then you can upgrade them to the next level. Here are my cards for upgrade.

Isgald Vorst (Level 6)

For a total of one hundred copies, a regular, common card can be upgraded to level six. Isgald Vorst gained a new ability after this upgrade: Piercing. Isgald is already one of the strong common cards in the Gladiator set collection, probably second to Katrelba Gobson. At level six he deals four melee damage and has four speed. He also has three armor and five health. On abilities, he has three including Opportunity, Bloodlust and Piercing. With only five mana he is a regular in my team whenever I use the Water Splinter.

Helmet Kharafax (Level 6)

Helmet Kharafax is two mana, common card from the Light Splinter. He has no attack but ideal to be used as tank in low mana battles. His stats are decent for a tank. He has an armor, five health and four speed. He has Void ability against magic attacks and for additional sustainability, he has the Scavenger ability.

Whistling Damon (Level 6)

Whistling Damon is a common Death Splinter card. At level six he gained another speed stat, making his speed at five. He deals two ranged damage and has five health. He only requires three mana to use in battle so it's easy to find a slot for him when you use the Death Splinter. With his five health, he's an ideal unit to shield against Sneak attackers.

Ajax Lightfoot (level 5)

Ajax Lightfoot is rare Light Splinter card. At level five, he deals three ranged damage, has six health and six speed. On abilities, he has Dodge which complements his high speed stats. Also, he has Bloodlust ability common to all Gladiator cards. No doubt Captain Katie is the best rare Light Splinter card but you may also choose to use Ajax due to his lower mana.

Trap Falloway (Level 3)

Trap Falloway gains another attack stat at level three for a total of five melee damage. He also has five health and four speed. He has a debuff ability, Weaken which decreases the enemy health stat by one. He also has Bloodlust, a signature ability among all Gladiator cards. With his stats, his use is a bit situational. He is not a good tank so I would use him in rulesets like Supersneak or Equal Opportunity where melee units can attack from any position to take advantage of his high attack stats.

New Legendary cards

In addition, I also pulled two new legendary cards. I now have two BCX of each card, one more and I can upgrade them to the next level.

Flagulon Reine

Flagulon Reine is a Water Splinter card. She deals two magic damage, has six health and two speed. Her ability, Blast is a powerful offensive weapon.

Sola Ranjell

Sola Ranjell is a Light Splinter card. She is a support card having the Tank Heal ability. At only three mana, she is a great unit in the back line dealing one magic damage and having sufficient health against Sneak attackers.

Final Thoughts

This is a significant upgrade to my deck just from joining Brawls. I also earned SPS as an added bonus. This is why I always join our brawls. It's a fun way to earn SPS and upgrade my Gladiator collection. Each upgrade unlocks additional stats or new abilities. With our rewards (Merits, SPS and Crowns), every brawl is a chance to grow stronger as a guild and as a player.
