Splinterlands: Join a Guild for Brawls and Gladiator Cards!
Hello Splinterlands Summoners! Our guild finished another brawl this week. In this post, I'll show how we performed, my own contributions to our brawl and the new Gladiator cards I acquired from playing brawls.
Brawl Performance
Our guild didn't do too well in this brawl. We only won 65 Crowns, 3.4k Merits and 51 SPS. The battles were tougher compared to last week's brawl.
Last week, we did lots better. We earned 115 Crowns, 6k Merits and 90 SPS. Compared to this week, we only earned around half of last week's rewards!
My own contribution to the brawl was not so great either. I only won three battles out of eight. Despite of our poor performance, I still appreciate the rewards we earned especially the SPS which adds to my weekly accumulation of SPS.
Gladius Packs
I only have 5k Merits, enough to buy two Gladius cases. Each case contains five cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. I'll have ten new cards added to my deck.
Opening the packs gave me two rares and two epic cards. It's not a great pull but it's not bad either. The two epic cards are ones I use in battle aside from Quora.
Featured Battles
Battle 1 - Shades of Gray
In this battle, the primary ruleset was Shades of Gray. We can only use neutral units. I chose the Fire archon to have additional armor for my units. For my gladiator card, I'm lucky to have Tatiana Blayde, a legendary neutral card. She will benefit mostly from the armor granted by the archon.
The battle is capped at twenty five mana so I used a low mana unit, the Halfling Refugee in the tank. The rest of my team were composed of magic units.
The opponent had the legendary dragon archon, Sheng Xiao but the rest of his units were not so special.
The combination of armor, magic damage and strong Gladiator card led to my victory. The opponent has a strong archon that poisoned a couple of my units however, his units did little damage that wasted his archon's potential.
Battle 2 - Earthquake and Noxious Fumes Ruleset
One of the difficult rulesets where your units get damaged every turn by the environment. I used to have a great team combo in these rulesets back in the Chaos Legion era. In Conclave Arcana, I use units with high health and abilities like Flying to counter Earthquake and Life Leech, to counter Noxious Fumes. I chose a dragon archon so that I can use my favorite unit in Earthquake rulesets.
In the tank position, I chose a legendary Gladiator card, Xulax Nightwind from the Death splinter. He's got great stats, able to deal four melee damage and more importantly, has seven armor and seven health for sustainability. In second position, I placed Shadowfey Shiek, a unit that can fly and has Life Leech ability. I put him ahead of Night Reaper so that he will be hit first by units with Wingbreak ability. In third is NIght Reaper who can fly and has Wingbreak against enemy flyers. It also has sufficient nine health to sustain it against poison damage. The rest of the team are filler units.
The opponent chose the Earth team with a couple of high health units and a flyer. The battle was easier than the previous as my units were far better suited for the ruleset and deals higher damage at the same time.
Battle 3 - Super Sneak and Lost Legendaries Rulesets
The next battle has Super Sneak and Lost Legendaries in the ruleset. I immediately thought of Quora who is the most powerful epic card and even better than some legendaries. In this ruleset, I can place her anywhere and take advantage of her dual attack since she can hit with melee from any position. Since the ruleset includes Super Sneak, I placed Quilliun Legionary in the last position to take advantage of its Thorns ability.
My opponent chose the Life archon Bela. Her team is composed of healers and armor repairers, a similar combo I used in Chaos Legion. In the last position, he had a high defense unit to counter against Sneak attackers.
This battle is the toughest that I won because of the opponent's combination of healing and repairing. Thankfully, my archon granted the Execute ability to elves. It was the Blackmoor Wildelf who eliminated the enemy's strong tank and after that, the battle was won.
Final Thoughts
Joining a guild has a lot of benefits. The guild offers SPS and Glints bonuses from battles as well as the opportunity to join brawls that has SPS and Merit rewards. The guild also offer camaraderie where you can share builds and combos. Other guilds even delegate cards to their members to help them advance in rank. If you haven't joined a guild yet, you can find plenty in the Splinterlands discord channel where they actively recruit members.
