Splinterlands: Finding Value in Non-Meta Cards

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

What makes Splinterlands a fun game is that no card is truly useless. Some cards dominate the meta and appear in battle after battle, while others stay hidden in collections waiting for the perfect ruleset. The beauty of the game is that specific rulesets can suddenly transform an overlooked card into a useful one.

A slow unit that rarely sees play can become "fast" in Reverse Speed. A weak ranged attacker may shine in Equal Opportunity or Target Practice. Even low mana utility cards can decide matches during Little League or Close Range battles. Cards that seem situational often become powerful counters when the right rulesets appear.

This is why building a big collection matters. The strongest players are not only those with powerful legendary cards, but those who know how to adapt to rulesets and use the right cards to increase winning chances. Adaptability wins games in Splinterlands and every card has value that adds another strategic option to your battles.

In my case, I don't use Lady Amara that in Modern and rarely in the Frontier. However, there was one ruleset in Modern when I found her useful.

The ruleset was Wands Out with a twenty four mana cap. I didn't choose the Water magic team due to the very low mana cap so I picked Earth instead with the archon having the ability to debuff the enemy's magic attacks. Due to the low mana cap, Lady Amara suddenly finds a good use. She is an ideal tank with her beefy eight health stats. She is also an elf so she benefits from the Bloodline Dominion buff of the Earth archon. I had two more elves in the team and one three mana card. The enemy chose Dragon and had a mix of magic units from several sets. Lady Amara with her eight health lasted for three rounds. The enemy also had a tanky Songale in front but my units still prevailed in this battle.

The next battle was another Wands Out ruleset and further complicated with Little League.

Here I was able pick another unused card, Voss. It's currently at level one so even though it's an epic card, it's not that useful right now. However, in this battle, he stepped in to be my tank. His six health was enough to hold the enemy attackers at bay while my damage dealers Continuum Seer and Mad Kaboomist are safe in the back to do damage. I also had the advantage in this battle owing to my archon that debuffed the enemy's magic attacks. My damage output was higher and my frontline was much more beefier than the enemy's that led to my team getting the win.

Final Thoughts

So if you have cards that gather dust in your collection, don't just throw them away or sell them. Each card can find a good use under the right conditions. Having a big collection is important in Splinterlands. We must know how to maximize the potential of every card in the right situation. At the end of the day, every card can have a purpose because each battle is different. A card that rarely sees play today could become the deciding factor under the perfect ruleset tomorrow.
