Splinterlands Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund: For Players of Failed Web3 Games
Hello everyone! The CGRF (Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund) was announced last month but somehow it flew from my radar. I saw an article in other publications and there's also a peakd post here but there's not much details on how it works.
Failed Play to Earn Games
Play to earn crypto games led by Axie Infinity became popular in 2021. This popularity was how I discovered Splinterlands. There were a lot of games from different blockchains that sprouted like mushrooms. However, not all of these games were successful and even successful games like Axie saw its assets and token price drop. Sadly, some games shut down leaving players and investors holding an empty bag. Here's how Splinterlands' initiative, CGRF can help.
What is CGRF?
The CGRF is an initiative led by Splinterlands and its governing body SPSDAO. Its mission is to help players who lost value due to the failure of play to earn games by offering them a way to recover that value by inviting them into the Splinterlands ecosystem. Sounds like a win-win solution.
The fund will have $500,000 in tokens and in game assets to distributed over seven years. The SPSDAO will vote on which failed games qualify, their allocation and other operational details.
How it Works
To be eligible, claimants must verify their holdings in failed games, create a Splinterlands account with spellbook, and remain active by completing in game actions. The fund grants Splinterlands assets in a seven year period.
Which Games are Qualified?
There currently ten qualified games under the CGRF which are detailed on https://splinterlands.com/cgrf
My Thoughts
The project looks to be a win-win for the players and Splinterlands. It gives players a chance to recover their assets. They are offered a way to regain some of the lost value through CGRF by receiving Splinterlands assets as compensation for a period of seven years. The project invites players to join an active ecosystem where they can play again and grow value to their assets.
For Splinterlands, the project is a great way to invite new players while building a good reputation. By helping when others fail, Splinterlands builds goodwill not only for itself but to all #play2earn games as well.
Sending you Ecency love
