Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

I just unlocked Gold I League in Modern. Going to a higher league, I expect my SPS rewards earned per win to increase. I was also rewarded with advancement chests that contained cards, among others. Advancing in leagues as you win more battles is part of the fun I find in playing Splinterlands.

The draw was somewhat lucky. I got an epic dragon card that I wish to upgrade. There were also rare and common cards in the rewards as well as potions.

I now have three copies of Kazira Vaelstrik. One more and she will level up to two and increase her attack to three. I want to get her to level three where she gets the Close Range ability.

Featured Battle

I always find it fun to beat a legendary archon and units with Frontier archon. It shows that a well built team with synergy will win against individual strong cards with less team work.

In this battle, I used the Frontier Fire archon that grant speed to his team. My strategy was to strike first and defeat enemy cards before they can do damage. The rest of the team were as follows.

Drybone Megalodon was my main tank. It has Flank ability that allows another tank to play in second and attack from there. It also has Retaliate that gives it a chance to counterattack against enemies. In second position was Molten Elemental. It has dual attack and can fly. In third is Mindless Thrall a fast magic unit that fits in my speed strategy. In fourth is another magic unit, Chaos Evoker. It's a common unit but has the powerful Blast ability in its arsenal. In fifth is none attack support unit Ashveil Tactician. She has the Inspire ability to increase the power of my melee units. Lastly, I had Shiraza whose Weapons Training ability grants two magic attack to Ashveil Tactician.

The enemy had the legendary Lorkus as his archon. He also has two legendary cards reinforcing his team. Other than the buff provided by the archon, his team has less synergy compared to mine that benefit from the archon's ability as well as from each other. The advantage in speed and synergy was the key to victory against a stronger enemy.
