Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to my blog! Ready your wallets since the new mini set has been announced to be released on or later than February 10 this year! It was announced early so that players will have time to unstake SPS and use those to buy packs if they choose to do so. The new set is called ESCALATION, a cool name that adds to Splinterlands lore.

Importance of Mini Sets

As in previous mini sets like Dice and Riftwatchers, they introduce new abilities, synergies or mechanics that change the meta without replacing the Conclave Arcana cards. Mini sets enable new team compositions and counter dominant strategies thus making battles fresh between card set releases.

Pack Type and Pricing and Availability

Unlike the Conclave Arcana set that introduced the revolutionary new pack types, ESCALATION will only have the standard pack type. There will be a total of five hundred and fifty thousand packs (550,000) available with only five hundred thousand available for sale while the DAO keeps fifty thousand packs. There are multiple choices of currencies to buy packs. Each pack cost $5, 5000 CREDITS, 5000 DEC or 350 SPS.

Presale Promo Cards

Similar to previous editions, there will be a presale period where players can buy packs of the new set before the set is released and earn additional bonuses for buying early. For example, the promo cards for the presale of Conclave Arcana packs was the versatile card Arcane Skinwalker and first triple attack legendary card, Gramel the Hunger.

For ESCALATION, the expected bonus will include two limited edition promo cards, one Legendary and one Rare similar to Conclave Arcana promo cards. There will be a raffle for the Arcane variants of both cards and in game titles for players who purchase the most packs during the presale via the leaderboard.

How I'm Preparing for Escalation

I only have almost 20k SPS staked and I'm not keen on unstaking them to buy packs. On the other hand, I already have around 3,500 SPS in my hive-engine wallet, good enough to purchase ten packs should the price remain unchanged. Since there's still a lot of time, I'll allocate some of my post rewards to buy more packs. I'm looking to buy twenty or more packs depending on how much funds I saved.

Rebellion Still in Modern Mode

I asked in the discord if this means Rebellion set will soon move to Wild. I was worried that my favorite Rebellion cards will be no longer be usable in the Modern mode. Thankfully Rebellion will still stay in Modern mode for now.
