Top 5 anime. Part I

I’ve always enjoyed watching anime, although as a child I didn’t even know that’s what this type of Japanese animations were called. To me, they were just “cartoons,” and I loved sitting in front of the TV, immersing myself in that colorful and imaginative world that every anime offers. In Cuba, my entire generation grew up watching the same shows. They definitely shaped our childhoods and, in a way, influenced how we see the world.

I still enjoy this kind of content with the same passion I had as a child. Now I’m a bit more aware and sometimes approach it in a more mature way though. So, as a true Gen Z–Millennial (yes, I consider myself a mix of both generations), here’s my top 5 list of anime that I’ll make sure my future kids watch. Of course, I’m only including anime I’ve personally seen, I'm sure that might be others that are great for kids, but I can only speak about the ones I know.

Number 5: Mikan Enikki

I have a soft spot for this anime because I grew up watching it and loved it as a child. It was fun and relaxing. Mikan Enikki is a 1988 shōnen/shōjo anime that blends comedy and romance in a very warm and natural way. The story follows Mikan, a very peculiar orange cat who used to live with an old man he called “grandpa.” And yes, this cat could talk. That’s just one of his many unique traits. Sadly, the grandfather passes away, and Mikan, now a fully grown cat, decides to move to the city. There, he meets a boy named Tom, who takes him home and adopts him. The family welcomes him warmly, unaware that he’s no ordinary cat.

One day, Tom’s mom notices that the bottle of sake she keeps in the kitchen is getting emptier by the day. Surprised, she decides to find out who (or what) is behind it. One night, she walks into the kitchen and discovers Mikan drinking sake and drunkenly talking. This funny cat not only knows how to speak but has also developed a taste for alcohol, as he used to drink every night with his previous owner, who also taught him how to read.

You might think that after this discovery Tom’s mom would kick Mikan out, but that’s not the case. On the contrary, they end up loving him even more. And so begins this fun story, full of youthful romance and emotional ups and downs. It’s a light and refreshing anime, and since I enjoyed it so much, I hope my future kids will too.

I ended up writing quite a lot about just one anime, so to keep this from getting too long, I’ll split it into five parts to make it easier to read. In my next post, I’ll talk about number 4 anime on my list. If you liked it, leave a comment telling me what your favorite childhood anime were!

Siempre he disfrutado ver anime, aunque claro de niña ni siquiera sabía que se llamaba así a ese tipo de dibujos animados japoneses. Para mi eran solo muñes, y yo adoraba sentarme frente al televisor a disfrutar de ese mundo de color y fantasía que ofrece cada anime. En Cuba toda mi generación creció viendo los mismos animes. Ciertamente, estos, marcaron nuestras infancias y en cierto modo amoldaron nuestra vision del mundo.

Aún sigo disfrutando de este contenido con la misma pasión que lo hacía de niña, aunque ahora un poco más consciente y a veces de una forma más madura. Así que como buena genZ-millenial (si, porque me considero una mezcla de ambas generaciones) acá les traigo mi lista top de 5 animes que me voy a asegurar de que mis futuros hijos vean. Por supuesto solo concidero los animes que he visto, quizas hayan otros que sean ideales para educar a tus hijos pero solo puedo hablar de los que conozco.

Puesto no.5: Mikan Enikki

A este anime le tengo cariño puesto que crecí viéndolo y me encantaba de niña. Era divertido y relajante. Mikan Enikki en un shōnen/shōjo de 1988, mezcla comedia y romance de una manera muy cálida y natural. La historia trata de Mikan un gato naranja muy peculiar, quien solía vivir con un señor mayor al que le decía abuelo, y sí este gato podia hablar. Hay parte su mayor peculiaridad y digo la mayor porque tiene muchas. Tristemente el abuelo muere y Mikan ya siendo todo un gato adulto decide ir a la ciudad en donde se encuentra con un niño llamado Tom, quien se lo lleva a casa y lo adopta.

La familia lo acoge con cariño sin saber que este no es un gato cualquiera. Un día la mama de Tom nota que la botella de sake que guarda en la cocina esta cada día más vacia y esto le sorprende bastante, así que decide averiguar quien o que esta haciendo desaparecer el sake. Una noche al entrar la mamá a la cocina descubre a Mikan bebiendo sake y hablando borracho, este divertido gato no solo sabia hablar sino que tenía un gusto adquirido por el alcohol, ya que con su anterior dueño solia beber todas las noches, quien de hecho tambien le enseño a leer. Uno pensaría que luego de este descubrimiento de la mama de Tom sacarían a Mikan de la casa pero no es así al contrario, lo terminan amando muchísimo. Así comienza esta historia divertida llena de romances juveniles, y muchos altibajos. Es un anime fresco y ligero, así que como yo lo disfrute tanto espero que mis futuros hijos tambien.

Me extendí bastante con solo un anime, y como no quiero que sea tan largo el post voy a dividirlo en cinco partes para que la lectura sea más ligera. En mi siguiente post hablare sobre el puesto 4 en mi lista. Si les gusto déjenme un comentario con cuales eran sus animes favoritos de niños.
