I am not that Nice Guy again, I say no when I have to

One of the most important life lessons I have learned and put at my fingertips is that, being a nice guy always comes with suffering and people using you for their benefit. I grew up believing that if I try to please people in society, I will feel accepted by everyone. I was wrong, the society does not work like that.

What I realized in this life as I grow and learn is that you only get genuine love when you try to be who you are and stand by your beliefs. Now, I have learned to say no whenever I have to, instead of trying to please anyone that comes my way without thinking twice.

I grew up in an extended family household and was the errand boy for almost all the elders in our house. During those days, I could never say no whenever someone assigned me a task. I thought saying no would make me tagged as an arrogant or disrespectful boy. At the end of it all, I didn't benefit from being the good guy in the household.

Nowadays, I feel very relieved and comfortable when I say no to something above my capabilities. I have transformed from being the "yes sir master", to a different being and I don't think I am ever going back again.

There are so many factors that led to my transformation but the main reason is that I realized how free I will be free myself from the mental prison of pleasing the world. I am currently reading a book titled, No more Mr. Nice Guy The book has opened my eyes to so many things, especially my social and love life.

It is time to break away from the mental prison of saying yes to everything even if it is above your capabilities.
