My Splinterlands Journey: Playing, Renting Cards, and Buying Starter Packs!
On Splinterlands there are several game modes to choose from or to play simultaneously.
I am an active player:
- in Modern Format
- in Survival Mode
- in the new Frontier Mode
- in Brawls
- in Land and Conflicts
In this post I share my game activity, progress and strategies in the three Ranked Play game modes I play in.
My FRONTIER Game Activity and Progress
The Frontier Mode was in my opinion the coolest and most recent addition because:
- it is a fun and completely free-to-play game mode = great starting point for new players
- it is a play mode for human players only = bots and battle helpers are not allowed.
I started playing in Frontier mode from the first day of its release (29 July 2025).
I have been quite constant in playing except for a period of 10 days when I was on holiday with my family.
In the next picture you can see my most recent battle I played in Frontier Mode.
My game results have improved since I found the legendary card Mystic Scaleweaver among the daily rewards
In my opinion Mystic Scaleweaver is one of the cards that makes the difference in Frontier Mode especially because the combination Marlai Singariel (archon) + Mystic Scaleweaver allows you to use a card with magic attack = 3 in battle.

Although I am not in the award-winning positions (top 50) of the Silver Leaderboard my results are improving season after season and I think they will improve more significantly when I manage to increase the level of my Frontier archons.
I am a few BCX away from completing the upgrade from level 1 to level 2 of the archons:

My MODERN Game Activity and Progress
I like playing in Frontier Mode, but I also like playing in the Modern Format because both of these formats are exclusively for human players and there are no bots.
Playing against a bot equals 0 fun for me!
In the Modern Format I play with a card collection consisting of 517 cards (owned + soulbound) = 9407 BCX = 159810 CP which you can see from here -> My Modern Cards
This season I am in the Gold II league and am at place 43 on the Gold Leaderboard with 262 battles played and 127 wins.
I still have 2 days and 20 hours to improve my season results and hope to finish the season at least in the Gold I league.
In Modern Format I only have three top level archons:
- Akane (owned by me)
- Avina Of The Wolf (rented)
- Nomos (rented)
My gaming results in Modern Format have improved significantly with the rental of Avina Of The Wolf and Nomos.
I was lucky to find these two summoners at a rental price that was not too high, so today I renewed my rental for the next season to avoid forgetting to do so.
To use these two summoners I spend 84.46 DEC per day but at the same time I receive 76.26 DEC per day for renting my cards so I have a negative but small renting balance = -8.20 DEC per day.
I would love to rent another top level summoner but as you can see in the next image the rental costs are very high and would consume most of the SPS income I get from playing.
In the next image you can see a recent battle I won in Modern Format where I could not use Akane level 4 (= probable defeat for me) and I used Avina of the Wolf
The battle victory allowed me to gain 4.32 SPS which equates to a value of 47.26 DEC.
This shows the goodness of my choice of renting Avina Of The Wolf because with an extra battle victory obtained thanks to this summoner I totally recovered the daily rental cost.
In order to increase the level of my archons of the Conclave Arcana set and also to increase the level of the Conclave Arcana unit cards I decided to focus on buying Starter packs but only if the estimated value calculated by Peakmonsters is higher than the purchase price.
Today I bought 7 Starter Packs and spent 7K DEC.
In the next pictures you can see the 35 cards I found inside the 7 starter packs I bought.
I haven't found enough copies to do any level upgrades on my Conclave Arcana cards, but I am approaching the threshold of 400K DEC spent on buying packs of cards that will allow me to receive a Mage Wagon.
My SURVIVAL Game Activity and Progress
I don't play in the Wild Format because my seasonal gain would be consumed by the cost of the Wild Pass and XBOT's fees but I play in Survival Mode using XBOT because in this format there is no Wild Pass and I get a seasonal gain in SPS.
As I explained in my previous post the current season will be the last season of the current Survival Mode because from next season the Survival Mode will enter a pause phase to allow the development team to implement the changes approved in the SPS DAO Proposal - Survival Test

I really liked the SPS DAO Proposal - Survival Test because human players will finally be able to use their wild cards also in Ranked Play without being forced to play against bots!
In the current season, XBOT played 131 battles, obtaining 81 victories (win rate: 61.83%).
Because there are only 2 days and 20 hours left until the end of the season today I configured XBOT to play 50 more battles per day (50 -> 100) so that I can use all my summoners before the Survival Mode break starts.
When I will have all my summoners in cooldown in Survival Mode I will put all my wild cards available for rent.
I will remove all my wild cards from the rental market when the new version of Survival Mode will be released because my intention is to play manually in the brackets where bots are not allowed.

La mia attività di gioco e i miei progressi nel FRONTIER Format
Il Frontier Mode è stato secondo me la più bella e recente aggiunta perchè:
- è una modalità di gioco divertente e completamente free-to-play = ottimo punto di partenza per i nuovi giocatori
- è una modalità di gioco solo per i giocatori umani = i bots e i battle helpers non sono consentiti.
Ho iniziato a giocare nel Frontier mode fin dal primo giorno del suo rilascio (29 luglio 2025).
Sono stato abbastanza costante nel giocare tranne un periodo di 10 giorni in cui sono stato in vacanza con la mia famiglia.
Nella prossima immagine puoi vedere la mia più recente battaglia che ho giocato nel Frontier Mode.
I miei risultati di gioco sono migliorati da quando, tra le ricompense giornaliere, ho trovato la carta leggendaria Mystic Scaleweaver
Secondo me Mystic Scaleweaver è una delle carte che fa la differenza nel Frontier Mode soprattutto perchè la combinazione Marlai Singariel (archon) + Mystic Scaleweaver permette di utilizzare in battaglia una carta con attacco magico = 3.

Anche se non sono nelle posizioni premiate (top 50) della Silver Leaderboard i miei risultati migliorano stagione dopo stagione e penso che miglioreranno in modo più significativo quando riuscirò ad aumentare il livello dei miei Frontier archons.
Mi mancano pochi BCX per completare l'upgrade dal livello 1 al livello 2 degli archons:
- Marlai Singariel (mi mancano 2 BCX)
- Incessant Sage (mi manca 1 BCX)
- Thalgrimore (mi manca 1 BCX)

La mia attività di gioco e i miei progressi nel MODERN Format
Mi diverto a giocare nel Frontier Mode ma mi diverto a giocare anche nel Modern Format perchè in entrambi questi due formati sono esclusivamente riservati ai giocatori umani e non ci sono i bots.
Giocare contro un bot equivale a 0 divertimento per me!
Nel Modern Format gioco con una collezione di carte composta da 517 carte (owned + soulbound) = 9407 BCX = 159810 CP che puoi vedere da qui -> My Modern Cards
Nella stagione in corso sono nella lega Gold II e sono al posto 43 della Gold Leaderboard con 262 battaglie giocate e 127 vittorie.
Ho ancora 2 giorni e 20 ore per migliorare i miei risultati stagionali e spero di concludere la stagione almeno nella lega Gold I.
Nel Modern Format ho solo tre evocatori di massimo livello:
- Akane (di mia proprietà)
- Avina Of The Wolf (noleggiato)
- Nomos (noleggiato)
I miei risultati di gioco nel Modern Format sono migliorati da quando ho noleggiato Avina Of The Wolf e Nomos.
Sono stato fortunato a trovare questi due evocatori ad un prezzo di noleggio non troppo alto e per questo motivo oggi ho rinnovato il noleggio anche per la prossima stagione per evitare di dimenticarmi di farlo.
Per utilizzare questi due evocatori spendo 84.46 DEC al giorno ma allo stesso tempo ricevo 76.26 DEC al giorno per il noleggio delle mie carte e quindi ho un bilancio del renting negativo ma di piccola entità = -8.20 DEC al giorno.
Mi piacerebbe noleggiare un altro evocatore di massimo livello ma come puoi vedere nella prossima immagine i costi di noleggio sono molto alti e consumerebbero la maggior parte del guadagno in SPS che ottengo giocando.
Nella prossima immagine puoi vedere una mia recente battaglia vinta nel Modern Format in cui non potevo usare Akane di livello 4 (= probabile sconfitta per me) e ho usato Avina of the Wolf
La vittoria in battaglia mi ha permesso di guadagnare 4.32 SPS che equivalgono ad un valore di 47.26 DEC.
Questo mostra la bontà della mia scelta di noleggiare Avina Of The Wolf perchè con una vittoria in più in battaglia ottenuta grazie a questo evocatore ho recuperato totalmente il costo di noleggio giornaliero.
Per aumentare il livello dei miei archons del set Conclave Arcana e per aumentare anche il livello delle carte unità Conclave Arcana ho deciso di focalizzarmi sull'acquisto degli Starter packs ma solo se il il valore stimato calcolato da Peakmonsters è superiore al prezzo di acquisto.
Oggi ho acquistato 7 Starter Packs e ho speso 7K DEC.
Nelle prossime immagini puoi vedere le 35 carte che ho trovato all'interno dei 7 starter packs che ho acquistato.
Non ho trovato un numero di copie sufficienti per fare qualche upgrade del livello delle mie Conclave Arcana cards ma mi sto avvicinando alla soglia di 400K DEC spesi nell'acquisto di pacchi di carte che mi permetterà di ricevere un Mage Wagon.
La mia attività di gioco e i miei progressi nel SURVIVAL Mode
Non gioco nel Wild Format perchè il guadagno stagionale è consumato dal Wild Pass e dalle fees di XBOT ma gioco nel Survival Mode utilizzando XBOT perchè in questo formato non c'è il Wild Pass e ottengo un guadagno stagionale in SPS.
Come ho spiegato nel mio precedente post la stagione in corso sarà l'ultima stagione dell'attuale Survival Mode perchè dalla prossima stagione il Survival Mode entrerà una fase di pausa per permettere al team di sviluppo di implementare le modifiche approvate nella SPS DAO Proposal - Survival Test

Mi è piaciuta molto la SPS DAO Proposal - Survival Test perchè finalmente i giocatori umani potranno utilizzare le loro wild cards anche nel Ranked Play senza essere costretti a giocare contro i bots!
Nella stagione in corso XBOT ha giocato 131 battaglie ottenendo 81 vittorie (win rate: 61.83%).
Dato che mancano solo 2 giorni e 20 ore alla fine della stagione oggi ho configurato XBOT per giocare 50 battaglie in più al giorno (50 -> 100) in modo che possa utilizzare tutti i miei evocatori prima dell'inizio della pausa del Survival Mode.
Quando avrò tutti i miei evocatori in cooldown nel Survival Mode metterò tutte le mie wild cards disponibili per il noleggio.
Toglierò tutte le mie wild cards dal mercato del noleggio quando sarà rilasciata la nuova versione del Survival Mode perchè la mia intenzione è di giocare manualmente nei brackets in cui i bots non sono consentiti.

The Frontier Format is fun, but the card rewards are also interesting.

My Foundation cards have a value of $21.87 which is a very good value in my opinion considering that it is a free to play format and considering that Foundation cards can also be used in Modern Format ;)

It looks like your Frontier deck is going up quite a bit. I still haven't done many fights and I am starting to struggle more in modern. It makes me wonder if I should do more Frontier mode to increase the level of my cards.
Appena finirà l'attuale stagione del Survival Mode, dato che metterai altre a noleggio, potresti a quel punto considerare di utilizzare questa rendita extra per noleggiare il tuo 4 evocatore di massimo livello: con 4 diverrebbe davvero raro non poterne selezionare uno per giocare una battaglia!
