Esta es mi participación dentro de la comunidad "Humanitas", y su gran "INICIATIVA: Un tema para cada día". Los derechos humanos

El día de ayer, sábado 5 de octubre, traté un tema que suele ser un poco controversial para algunas personas y dependiendo de la región, si es afín a la tuya. Pero el día de hoy, wow, para hablar sobre los derechos humanos, la única experiencia más cercana es la que vivo aquí en mi país. Trataré de llevar el tema sin entrar en diatribas políticas, ya que este tema, lamentablemente, en mi país roza con ese aspecto político y sucio tan macabro que vivimos actualmente en mi país.

Muchas personas que conozco se la pasan repitiendo los derechos humanos por todas partes, solo dicen eso: "Los derechos humanos", pero yo les he preguntado y simplemente no lo saben responder. Y es allí donde entro yo, y en medio de mi poco conocimiento, les digo que los derechos humanos son fundamentales para la dignidad de toda persona. No tengo que explicarles qué es dignidad, pero en medio de esa explicación caigo en el tema venezolano y con solo analizar la situación de nuestra Venezuela, nos damos cuenta de que estos derechos han sido sistemáticamente violados y olvidados por los políticos que alguna vez dijeron defender eso. Estos mismos tipos han sumergido al país en una crisis humanitaria profunda; yo le llamo control social, pero las personas se cansan de los atropellos por parte del gobierno.

Al vivir en un contexto donde la represión, que prácticamente desde el año 2002 la estamos viviendo, y la falta de libertades se han vuelto la norma de este país, para los que no son venezolanos y no viven en Venezuela, es posible que se pregunten cómo es posible que tantos venezolanos sigan padeciendo en silencio. Es muy simple: no podemos y no tenemos con qué defendernos, y les digo algo, la defensa es un derecho.

Todos aquí en Venezuela estamos al tanto de saber que desde hace ya varios años, organizaciones nacionales como Provea y otras internacionales han denunciado todas las violaciones a los derechos humanos de todos los ciudadanos en Venezuela, comenzando por la libertad de expresión y llegando hasta el derecho a la vida. Es muy deplorable saber cómo algunas personas que ocupan cargos en el gobierno se prestan para desaparecer y asesinar a personas inocentes. Existe una gran represión contra opositores políticos, activistas y ciudadanos comunes; yo lo digo con propiedad y es muy alarmante. Sin embargo, lo que más lamento es cómo muchas personas, tanto dentro como fuera del país, desconocen verdaderamente qué implican los derechos humanos y su importancia. Para muchos, las palabras "derechos humanos" parecen muchas cosas que simplemente no entienden. Lo peor de todo es ver y saber cómo, en muchas ocasiones, las personas que en teoría son las autoridades se encargan de desinformar o manipular a la población para hacer creer que sus reclamos son infundados o incluso traicioneros, donde por reclamar un derecho te convierte en terrorista que está incitando al odio.

Parece mentira, pero de alguna manera esto ha llevado a una situación en la que la defensa de los derechos fundamentales se considera un acto de desobediencia; a pesar de tener la razón, para ellos eres tú o yo quienes infringimos la ley, y la realidad es que solo estamos defendiendo un principio básico de justicia.

Pudiera decir muchas cosas al respecto sobre los derechos humanos, pero ya con plantear mi realidad y la realidad de mi país, creo que basta y sobra, sin embargo, algo muy importante es que debemos educarnos y crear conciencia sobre los derechos humanos.

Human rights

Yesterday, Saturday October 5th, I discussed a topic that is usually a bit controversial for some people and depending on the region, if it is related to yours. But today, wow, to talk about human rights, the only closest experience is the one I live here in my country. I'll try to take the subject without going into political diatribes, since this topic, unfortunately, in my country, is bordering on that political and dirty aspect so macabre that we are currently living in my country.

Many people I know keep repeating human rights everywhere, they only say that: “Human rights”, but I have asked them and they simply do not know how to answer. And that is where I come in, and in the midst of my little knowledge, I tell them that human rights are fundamental to the dignity of every person. I don't have to explain to them what dignity is, but in the middle of that explanation I fall into the Venezuelan issue and just by analyzing the situation of our Venezuela, we realize that these rights have been systematically violated and forgotten by the politicians who once claimed to defend that. These same guys have submerged the country in a deep humanitarian crisis; I call it social control, but people get tired of the government's outrages.

Living in a context where repression, which practically since 2002 we have been experiencing, and the lack of freedoms have become the norm in this country, for those who are not Venezuelans and do not live in Venezuela, you may wonder how it is possible that so many Venezuelans continue to suffer in silence. It is very simple: we cannot and have nothing to defend ourselves with, and I tell you something, defense is a right.

Everyone here in Venezuela is aware that for several years now, national organizations such as Provea and other international organizations have been denouncing all the human rights violations of all citizens in Venezuela, starting with freedom of expression and going all the way to the right to life. It is very deplorable to know how some people in government positions lend themselves to disappear and murder innocent people. There is a great repression against political opponents, activists and common citizens; I say it with propriety and it is very alarming. However, what I regret most is how many people, both inside and outside the country, are truly unaware of what human rights entail and their importance. To many, the words “human rights” sound like many things they simply do not understand. Worst of all is to see and know how, on many occasions, people who in theory are the authorities take it upon themselves to misinform or manipulate the population to make them believe that their claims are unfounded or even treasonous, where claiming a right makes you a terrorist who is inciting hatred.

It seems unbelievable, but somehow this has led to a situation in which the defense of fundamental rights is considered an act of disobedience; despite being right, for them it is you or I who break the law, and the reality is that we are only defending a basic principle of justice.

I could say a lot of things about human rights, but just by stating my reality and the reality of my country, I think that is enough, however, something very important is that we must educate ourselves and create awareness about human rights.
