The courage to say no

Good evening, everyone. I'm new here; this is my first time posting on weekend experiences. Hope I'm welcomed.

Today I will be talking on the topic :

     THE COURAGE TO SAY NO

I will be sharing my personal experiences too, but first of all, what is courage? Courage is the act of standing up for oneself, for others, or for a cause.

We have different kinds of courage, but based on this topic, we will be looking at emotional courage and how it can affect us negatively or positively.

Many people have fallen victim to emotional trauma because of their inability to refuse a particular suggestion or opinion, maybe because they are more concerned about how the person will feel rather than their own emotional serenity and well-being.

My picture

I was a victim consistently in a season of my life until I learnt to say no when necessary. In my secondary school days, I was walking back from school with my cousin, and then I saw my classmate at the other end of the road, and I was beckoned on to cross to the other end of the road.

Without thinking twice, I left my cousin to cross the road. I was knocked down by a tricycle and I was taken to the hospital, and that was how I lost 2 teeth in the process. I couldn't eat solid food for almost a month, and I was in serious pain, and I couldn't join my mates in school due to the injury I sustained.

Many people have cost themselves long-lasting pain due to their inability to say no. Learning to say no is a skill; it doesn't mean you are wicked, weak, or bad. It means you value your serenity, peace, and it shows you understand yourself.
