My 'remedy' is deep breathing exercises. There are loads of different ways to do this, so it's a good idea to research a few and find one that feels comfortable and relaxing. Then find a few minutes a day to practice until it becomes a natural habit. So you can call on it as soon as you feel the panic attack start.
My favourite combines breathing with counting.
- Breath in while counting to 4
- Hold for 4
- Breathe out for 4
- Hold for 4
- Repeat
I can't find the NHS resource page that helped me. But NHS Scotland Breathing Exercises seems useful.
