Being a physical education teacher is a profession full of unique situations, but working with preschool children adds an extra ingredient: innocence and tenderness. Today I want to share an anecdote that reminded me why I love what I do, even though my dignity took a bit of a tumble, hehehe, so to speak.

It all happened while I was preparing my little athletes for our upcoming internal sports event. The enthusiasm in the playground was off the charts; the children were very excited and would be playing against their classmates from other classrooms, and I, as their guide, wanted them to feel like true professionals. I was feeling incredibly energetic and decided it was time for a masterclass.

"Listen up, kids!" I told them with all the authority a whistle and a sports uniform can convey. I wanted to teach them the perfect technique for a kickoff. I visualized the trajectory, positioned myself in front of them, and prepared to deliver the knockout blow that would leave them inspired. However, fate (and perhaps a bit of dampness on the floor) had other plans.

Just as I launched the ball and took off to strike it with force, my supporting foot decided to go its own way. I slipped spectacularly, my legs flew through the air, and instead of a crisp impact with the ball, what you heard was a sharp "thwack!" of my body hitting the concrete.
