I joined base.app - Now What?

They say be careful what you wish for

Well, it is sometime now that I see the fuss on X about base. app and I really wanted to join and to see what all this is about.

Apparently the app (for earning) is not available for everyone, only if they are invited by another user.

On X, so many people from base are flexing their invites or their earnings ..

In this post I will share
a) how I eventually was invited so that you can try out (hopefully it will also work for you)
b) my first impressions about base.app (not impressed by content, but by infrastructure yes..)

How to get invited in base.app without an official invitation

I was asking for an invitation, but on X there are specific things a user needs to do to get attention. So, I got no answers at all...

But a few weeks ago, I had seen a link (i dont remember how I found it)

I simply put my email and a few days ago ... I got the first message

The first email was received on the 30th of October

After 2 weeks I received the second email.
I thought to give it a try, and ... I was in

First impressions...

I was in a sleek app, nice looking, easy to use, it shows some similarities to the Instagram UX or X, which are both very familiar to me.

I found it very easy to create a post, to follow a user, comment on their posts or like them.

I could not find instructions or a guide, there is just a + button on the bottom right part of your phone where you can post from.

You can either make your post buyable (is this a word?) where anyone can buy it, and creator earns from trades + creator rewards, or you do not allow the post to be bought, when you still earn from creator rewards (although I could not find information about this yet)

I have tried engaging with some users, followed a few, asked a question (i.e. I could not find any way to 'save' a post), but so far noone has engaged with me. I also experimented with a video that I allowed it to be sold/traded. Let's see what happens.

In my opinion you need a userbase, so it will definitely require sometime for someone to grow a following.

I was not so impressed with the posts quality - or authenticity. It seemed to me that most posts used stock or AI images, or bad quality videos (by other creators) that are supposed to be viral.

I saw some amounts earned, that surprised me - so I guess that there is some kind of manipulation.

If you ever had a farcaster account, you can connect it, or create a new one

Claim your unique username ...

And you receive your account unique NFT

This is what I saw when i first opened the app

Some of the issues I dont know if they will be solved

• un-authentic content
• I did not find a way to filter my feed
• many many many apps to be connected
• lots of building can be done
• not sure about number of users in the app, but I think that it will explode when it will open for everyone
