Why was it DOC? I mean, it's clearly from the MS DOS age, and AFAIR it ran MS Works. And the fileformat was .wks and .wps.

There were a million different word processors and text editors in the DOS era. In any case, this text was probably just captured with a terminal program and either the terminal program used a DOC extension when exporting it or the user just chose to name it that way. It appears to be plain text.
Ah I see, well maybe you are right. I only remember Wordperfect being like the best word processor back in the days. But only saw the

There were also DOS versions of Microsoft Word and those files would have used the .DOC extension. I was able to open them up with Notepad++ (which is how I took the screenshots) and except for some unreadable characters at the beginning and end, it displays the text just fine which is why I think these were just DOS text files.
