Hello friends. I am here to tell you about a very nice place I just visited with my son and my wife.A place where human values and art save the world. It is in a small town in the municipality of Consolación del Sur in Pinar del Río, Cuba. It is the Patio de Pelegrín in Puerta de Golpe.

This place is a socio-cultural project. My wife, who is a teacher, says that a project is a local alternative promoted with my human and material resources of the community to promote development, to transform the existing reality with the participation of people through culture and artistic manifestations. Stimulating creation, learning and human values. He had to dictate this to me because I found it very interesting.

The truth is that this courtyard we arrived at has everything. From the small street you can see a seemingly ordinary house but when you enter it seems that you are in a paradise because of the many beautiful things you see. Inside a green garden, full of sculptures and decorative objects.

There are also art galleries, a library, and workshops where they teach children, adults and seniors many things. They teach them to paint, to cook, to weave, to make crafts, to grow plants. Also to care for animals, plants and the environment in general.
While my wife and my son were looking at the artwork and crafts, asking questions, I was taking pictures of everything. Objects that were useful in the home became obsolete and changed their function through the hands of art, today they are decorative.
What most caught my attention was the vegetable garden. A well delimited plot, clean of weeds and well planted. Variety of products we found there: medicinal plants, vegetables and vegetables, viandns.

The famous Guayabita del Pinar, tiny Guayabita used to make a very strong alcoholic beverage, cultural heritage of the province of Pinar del Rio because it is the only place where it is harvested.

I would have stayed there all day enjoying so much verdir and learning how to make it at home. Among so much greenery there is no lack of art, there is a man crouching cultivating but it is made of stone, cement, it is a sculpture.

Near the plot there is a museum of household items. Very old items that in the XXI and XX century were very necessary.

In this place people learn many elements that are useful for their daily life. They also learn with respect and love. Here one breathes tranquility, desire to work and joy.
All this wonderful work was born from the effort of the painter Mario Peregrí and his vocation to help and teach others. In more than 20 years of his project he has achieved many recognitions.
He is the recipient of the National Community Culture Award. It receives many visitors every day to learn about its results and everyone is well received.

The small village of Puerta de Golpe became famous for its existence, rather than for its fertile land where tobacco is grown. Photos of the project travel the world. It is a place for recreation, learning and employment. When you leave there, you leave with many ideas to fulfill. I wish many congratulations to the artist Mario Pelegrín and his family and also to the villagers for the beauty that they have been able to achieve with personal effort and love for the place where they live.
