Jesus Healed The Deaf/ Dumb Man: Saying Ephphatha, Be Open
Greetings my beloved family, happy new month to you all. I'm so excited to have you here in this space. You're all welcome to my blog.
This week has been a fruitful one indeed. This makes me believe that indeed, everything I need I will definitely get if only I'm ready to get it.
So this week, we've been having a ten-day program in my school campus fellowship, and the theme of the program is " Ephphatha" meaning be open.
Our text was taken from the book of Mark 7 verses 32-37. I will be using the King James version to read.
And they brought unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.
And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue;
And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
This scripture talks about a certain man who had a speech impediment. This speech impediment affected both his ears and mouth. This means he couldn't hear or talk.

This was a very serious matter, and I believed he did wonder why he was going through such a difficult time.
A time came when the people brought him to Jesus for healing. They did that because they knew Jesus was capable of that.
So when Jesus saw him, he had to bring him out from the crowd and set him aside. For Jesus to do that, it simply means he needed to concentrate on him alone and not the crowd anymore.
When he set him aside, he put his hand in his ears, he spat and touched his tongue. Then he looked unto heaven and sighed, saying unto him, Ephphatha, this is, be opened.
And behold, his ears were opened, and the strings of his tongue were loosed, and he began to speak instantly.
I learnt a lot from this passage. Being deaf and dumb is just like experiencing a closed door. And it takes someone who sees, understands, and hears to give a command before such a door can open.
But at the sound of Jesus' voice, those doors opened. Jesus didn't require his faith to pull down those barriers because he knew he didn't know anything about faith.
I don't know what you're going through in life in this new month. But I want to tell you to look unto heaven each time you're facing difficulties in life.
Call on heaven, and every closed door will be opened unto you, just as in the days of old.
Thank you for reading through my post.
