What's Love Got To Do With It?
It's been a while....
Almost two weeks now since our last #biblejournal post and I apologize for seeming to be lazy when it came to this series. I had so much stuff to write and talk about, but tonight I decided it was time to dive back in and finish our bible study series.
And we're coming to the end of 1 Corinthians with Chapter 16.
The chapter starts out with a popular verse that some people in Christianity like to claim has abolished the seventh day Sabbath and turned Sunday (the first day of the week) into the day we are to worship...
It's found in verse 2:
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
Now it's pretty obvious from simply reading this that there is zero command to make Sunday holy. It's simply saying to keep some cash on hand for anything the church may need. But alas, sometimes we make the bible say things we want to have it say, rather than what it truly does.
But that's not even my big takeaway from the entire chapter.
I wrote down that Verse 14 is my highlight of chapter 16:
Yeah, full disclaimer. I read the King James Version :) And sometimes, the KJV is famous for what is called 'false friends'. Which means there will be at times, english words that we use today that you may think you know what it means but that's not always the case.
In fact the word charity here doesn't mean the Red Cross. It actually means....Love.
Which is the entire purpose of not only the book of 1 Corinthians, but also the entire bible for that matter. Re-read that verse but replace charity with the word love....
And then read the entire chapter again and see what the big picture is.
It's Paul's send off. It's one of his farewell speeches and he's wanting to make sure he leaves the character of Christ with his fellow believers. Love is the answer.
Now before you are ready to roll your eyes and laugh at the whole 'God is love' movement that seems to think we can just love God and never turn from sin or repent....I'm not that Christian. And neither was Paul.
Still, it's very important to remember that love is what makes this entire thing, this entire plan of salvation possible. Yes we are to turn from sin. Yes 1 Corinthians had some VERY strong rebukes for the church...But at the end of the day, God is...Love.
I just think we need to balance God is love with...Genuine repentance.

So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
I've been labelled a lot of things on Hive 😂 by the biggest farmers scammers and downvoters
Actions speak louder than any words do especially when them words are coming from a compolsive liars
