What Makes You Stay?

I have been sitting at my desk, planning out a big long 'rah rah' type post for Hive....

And I understand, a lot of the nay sayers aren't fans of those kind of posts. Sometimes it feels like we're putting lipstick on a pig because we constantly ignore the glaring needs here on chain.

While I always want to stay positive, I have been known to 'rant' every now and again. But at the end of the day, Hive is going to...Hive.

And we have beaten the dead horse over and over again...What needs to change, what needs to be built....I'm sure there are plenty of those kind of posts out there to go over.

But tonight....Something else came to mind and I hope you guys enjoy this little bit of...Flipping the script.

Instead of me just rambling on and on for 500 or so words about how much I love this blockchain, I wanted to ask you guys. few questions...

And hopefully, you get a ton of a value from it, and have some fun in the process :)

I'm going to ask a pretty basic question, but I'll spend the remainder of the post going over what kind of information I'm looking for in response...

Ready?

What makes you stay on Hive?

At first glance, that seems like an easy question to answer, but then we need to dig.

Are you here because of the promise and potential?

Maybe you are here because there are still rewards being dished out?

You are still on Hive because of the community?

It could be a combination of all of them or something else....

These are just probing questions and I hope you give some time to give an answer to the question above :)

This is my thinking, maybe we are going about this all wrong. Maybe we need to ask the question what makes people stay here and then focus on that for a bit?

Because we have spent so much time going over what's not working and how we should fix it....Crazy thinking but how about, let's see what does work and FOCUS on that?

But I wouldn't be a good example unless I practiced what I preached, so here is my answer....

I'm still on Hive for multiple reasons and some of them are yes, stated above. The promise of this blockchain just cannot be denied. It's still the ultimate #web3 experience and there is nothing that is close.

But don't for a second think I don't love the rewards either. It would be silly to say that I don't love seeing those payments coming in every week. And while I truly am grteful for each and every one, it's not the main reason I'm still here.

Like I said, it's a little bit of everything...The people and community are second to none. I've met some of the greatest human beings here on chain over the years, online and in person. Salt of the earth type people!

But when it comes down to it...I'm still here because this is my online home. While I've dabbled in other projects built on this chain, some of them quite foolishly. I've always been coming back to Hive.

This place just feels right and when I think about I can be in an awesome community, that's on a blockchain, I get rewarded for my effort and I see amazing things still being developed....

I honestly wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Welp...I guess this turned into a rah rah post after all ;)

Looking forward to reading your responses and of course, I will value each of them!

I am here because I can express my creativity one way or another and my passion on the finance world - I finished Informatics Economics university, so such space intrigues me. And because of that the idea of owning my content, participating to a social economy and earning from it, simply still calls me here.

I think that's what is so cool...This place has a track record of actually doing what it is supposed to do, for almost a decade now.

Ownership, community and stability, for me. Hive isn't flawless, but it's becoming a site where talks feel more important than most social networks. New projects are interesting, but it's people that brings me back. That's much harder to replace than any feature.

Agreed. It's got it's issues for sure, but overall, nothing comes close.

I think it's for a mix of all things, but I personally think Hive is the best social media out there. The community is amazing even if people have been leaving due to the mismanagement.

And that's a shame. Imagine if everyone stuck around...What a place this would be..

Well, came for the games, stayed for two main reasons, the fact that I can write what i want without fear, and the friends i made along the way.

So true! I was scared to put my 'thoughts' out there for years, but now I see, Hive always seems to allow us to express ourselves.

I have been here for more than eight years. We had and still have hope for Hive. Some people have left, while others are still here. I have invested a lot of time and effort into this platform and would like to see that investment pay off one day, but honestly, I am not sure how much longer I will stay.

The hope is always there. The potential is just way too big for me to let go of.

A year and half has passed, since I joined this platform. All I know is that I am here for a long-term run. Rest of the things just keep on changing. However, there is one thing which I will always keep on saying: Hive is a win-win phenomena. Without going to yap a lot, Hive Power alone is enough to prove this fact. You are curating, earning yourself, and everyone is making progress. Price do scare all of us. I just hope - oh the torment this hope beholds - Hive stays to exist. There is no doubt, Hive has helped me a lot with my introvert nature, nowadays, I feel more comfortable in expressing myself. Writing? It is another perk for sure. Because, from my personal experience, rest of the social media platforms are toxic. Hive, on the other hand, is quite friendly and kind. And, I have met such fascinating people here. I was not expecting this to happen online. In the end, of course, capital is a genuine reason; though, I do not withdraw much and keep on staking every penny. Thanks to the job which I hate and love at the same time.

I will repeat "win-win" scenario.

Yeah I agree...The fact that we can support others too, makes it so much better!

I was intrigued by the rewards, but am still here because of the community.

Here for the weird sense of community...rewards are nice, but not my focus. Basically....I just can't quit you.

I am still here for all the above, especially the potential for Hive's simple yet great example our blockchain sets for governance. I believe that with some refinements and expansion, Hive's governance structure would be a great replacement for Centralized Government. If instituted on a country wide scale we can create the 1st Decentralized Democracy that even an Anarchist could get onboard with. A governing structure where it can truly be "for the people by the people". We can easily and cheaply leave all the big questions from who leads, finalizing treaties, approving budgets and so on to the people enmasse.

Broken campaign promises could result in immediate dismissal and the people could replace a representative whenever they feel they no longer represent at the drop of a hat. Our voices would be heard in real time and no need for special elections where we're stuck with bad leadership until the next election cycle .

Community is a strong reason to stay.

At the core, I go back to what initially brought me to Hive. I have been burned by other platforms in which I invested time and effort. Either the platforms shut down, or they started censoring posts. Ownership is so compelling.

Even the shenanigans going on with the whales, it’s in their interest as co-owners to keep the blockchain alive. They have far more to lose, if this fails.

Yeah, and it's obvious, they like it the way it is, they remain in control.

I've accepted it, and just know what Hive will be because of it. Still better than anything out there.

Another way to see it is that Steem and Blurt are still kicking around despite their price being in the tank harder than Hive. So, we're better off than it seems.

When I started till today, I stayed cause of the community. I feel like owning something mean a lot to me.
Earning a few Hive doing it is fun as well.
I am staying cause it allows me to remain connected to crypto sphere.
I am staying cause we are a neat community all over the world talking to each other.
