Wednesday Nights May Never Be The Same...

I'm taking a day off from my #kingdomproverbs series as God has impressed me to speak about something that happened at my church tonight...
Well, let me say, it's not my church per se because I'm not a member of it specifically. However it's one that my family has been attending since we moved into the new town we are currently in. But overall, most churches in my denomination follow a very similar pattern for 'Wednesday Night Prayer Meetings'.
It usually goes like this....
We study a book of the bible as a group and then we end the study with a deep prayer for members of the church and community.
It's pretty much like this across the board, and every church I have attended in the denomination operates like this. Which is kind of odd because it's called....Wednesday Night....PRAYER meeting. However I always jut considered it, bible study night.
Maybe that's where the confusion comes from....
So tonight our pastor basically said....For these nights, we would concentrate on the prayers and if there is time, we would continue in the bible study.
On paper, this makes sense. Again, it's....Prayer meeting.
However it struck me as odd because since I've been a member of the church body, Wednesday nights were bible study AND prayer.
Now we are apparently getting rid of the studies and focusing on prayer only. Again, this makes sense on paper because of the 'brand and title' of the night, but I really...And I mean REALLY loved my weekly deep dive into Scripture with fellow believers.
I'm concerned because I did raise the point but felt kind of brushed off, as this is what will be the format going forward. Prayer mostly and if any time permits, bible study. I then raised the potential of another night becoming the bible study night and I received lukewarm reception to that idea. Our church does do book studies multiple times a week, as we read theological books together as a group, but without Wednesday night bible study, I'm not sure when it will take place....
So guess what I'm going to be doing.....
Praying :)
I'm going to pray going forward that God reveals to me some ideas on how to keep the church focused on bible study, maybe offer suggestions to cater to the big chunk of the members that found the studies profitable. And as for Wednesday night, when push comes to shove, dedicating an entire night to serious prayer is never a bad thing :)
What about your church?
How does it handle Wednesday night prayer meetings?
Do you have them?
Or a dedicated day for bible study as a group?

I didn't know about midweek gatherings at church!
Most churches will have them.
We host Midweek service and Bible studies; Wed and Fridays. If your Church turns their focus to prayers it is also a big advantage. Effective prayers changes one from the inside, something I must say is really lacking in the church. Just follow up, it may be what God is requiring from that church this year.
Yeah that's a great point. I spoke with another elder today and that's more or less what they pointed out. I'll look forward to the prayers, but I just dont want study to slip.
I believe every dot will connect on its own if it is the will of God.
