The LEO Pivot
Excited.
Nervous at times.
Confused most of the time.
Be willing to embrace change.
That would sum up this blog post in a few short sentences. So if you are super bored and don't wish to keep reading, understandable :)
It's story time with Jongo!
Last night, I jump on Threads as is my custom after I write #myleogoals post for the week, just to stay up to date with everything going on with the platform.
I'm hit with this bombshell...
Whoa....Hold on. I need some context after reading that. To be brutally fair, I have no idea what's going on these days in the crypto space. I literally live in a bubble. Which means I use Hive and LEO and that's about it. I spend pretty much zero time investigating new trends and heaven forbid, new tokens or projects.
Even so much so that I rarely listen into the LEO AMA's mostly because of work schedules and then when I get home, I completely forget about them. Again, my fault completely. So this isn't actually news for anyone that's been around the AMA's over the past few weeks.
But I'm in shock after reading this....
What does it all mean? Rewards are going away? Inflation be damned? What's going on???!!!!!
Thankfully, @khaleelkazi pointed me to the podcast and spaces that him and @taskmaster4450 did last Friday which essentially goes over the proposed changes to the LEO eco system.
Disclaimer: I HIGHLY suggest you check it out, to understand what is being proposed and presented.
Last night, I felt like my approach to Apex Lion status was all for not, because I didn't understand what was meant by 'pivot' as Khal calls it. At first glance, it looks like LEO is getting away from the delegated proof of stake that we've all been used to here. Again, it's my comfort bubble lol
But Task brings up a fantastic point. Inflation at 25% is harmless, if you grow at 100% a year.
Now ask yourself.....Is Hive growing at 100% a year?
Is #web3 even a thing here anymore? And to be honest, I have no idea. I just know, that my comfort zone has been pretty stagnant for the past few years. I've lived in the hopes and dreams that once the world sees how great we have it on Hive and LEO, they would flock to these platforms....DECENTRALIZED after all!!!!!
Honestly, it's not happening. This is a niche. It's a fun niche. I love this place. But if anyone thinks the masses are going to leave their cushy web 2 platforms for here, it's just not going to happen.
So the pivot is...Focus on what DOES attract growth, and still cater to the #web3 promise!
That's my big take away from Khal's vision for LEO's future. No inflation rewards sounds scary at first. It's literally everything I have known about crypto for almost a decade. But there has to be another way, a unique way of doing this.
Will it be the pivot?
I cannot say for sue. But tonight I found myself excited to pop through LeoDex for the first time and try my hand a few swaps. Of course nothing worked as I'm sure Jongo's incredible skills at tech came into play but....EXCITED is the word. I'm learning something new. Looking into a new project and platform and pushing myself to figure things out. Reminds me of why I got into this crypto stuff in the first place :)
I made the decision about 2-3 years ago, I'm all in on LEO.
I trust Khal and his vision. I'm a huge fan of Task and he's still as excited as ever. That alone gives me hope for the future. I'm an entrepreneur when all is said and done, change MUST be embraced. Risks must be taken.
We'll see how this goes :)

Yep, not one east task to move the 'used to web2er's' into the web3 ecosystem. Let's just focus and gradually grow, those who embrace web3 pattern will gradually show up.
This platform and entire community always needs to move forward. Never get too comfortable!
To be honest, I don’t think my Hive is growing 100% in a year but I’ll surely work towards that
I didn't know about that. Thanks for sharing! I'll have to listen to the podcast for the details.
These days, I have also not had the time to search for new projects
I’ll rather search for new projects on Hive
I’m fine with that
