The Bible Study Set Up
I asked a question in the Kingdom Discord last week, and I encouraged members to show off their 'daily drivers'. In bible nerd talk, that means the bible that you use every single day. I thought it would be a cool exercise for everyone to show their 'forever bible' with others and encourage each other to keep our noses in scripture.
Confession time.....
I haven't found my 'daily driver' since my old 2003 Thomas Nelson Giant Print KJV basically fell apart. I've been looking for the 'one' ever since, but right now I rotate bibles...Sometimes I'm in my wide margin, other times I'm in my TBS Windsor. Some days I'm nose deep into my Remnant Study Bible, and other days I'm reading through my Westminster Reference bible....
So instead of sharing my daily driver, I thought I would show what my daily bible study looks like. Now given, this is when I get free time which I am trying to make a priority these days. Instead of just reading, I'm trying to really engage with the scriptures.
I hope you enjoy the journey into my study habits.
The Bible
So while I don't have a daily driver per se, when I do in depth bible studies I always seem to come back to my KJV Sovereign Wide Margin by Thomas Nelson. This isn't a leather cover either, but you wouldn't be able to tell. I really do love this thing. The paper is awesome for note taking, the layout is super clean and the font is very easy to read.
I've poked around a lot of wide margins and have even tried a Cambridge Concord wide margin....I still keep coming back to the Sovereign.
The Study Helps
I also rotate through different bible commentaries. Sometimes I go straight to my study bibles, but for the in depth studies I like having physical copies of an exhaustive bible commentary. This a 2 volume set from Andrews University. One volume for the Old Testament, and the other for the New Testament.
I like these because it's a simple 2 book set. While I do also own the entire 7 volume Seventh Day Adventist commentary, I find the convenience of having just 2 books a lot easier to manage then pulling out a 7 volume set. Regardless of which bible commentary I use, this is so practical for me....I prayerfully read the scriptures I'm studying and then follow it up with what the commentary states of what I just read.
Super simple! And it's very rich. I get so much more from my daily studies when I dive into these commentaries. But it always begins with the bible. The bible is inspired, while the commentaries are the opinions of man.
The Tools
There is really nothing better than the Pigma Microns!
Every serious bible student should own a few of these babies. I don't get too complicated when I'm writing notes in my bible. I tried to color code everything at the start but now it's down to only a few colors. Blue, black, red and the occasional purple. What I love about these pens (and my Sovereign Wide Margin) is that the pens never bleed through the paper.
Most people will say you need to write notes with a 01 Micron, but because the paper is so good in my Sovereign, I use a thicker 05 pen.
I also love the Bible Brites yellow highlighter by GT Luscombe. I have really never used any other color than yellow in my bibles for highlighting verses.
The Set Up
And this is the set up :)
Obviously, I don't have the commentaries standing up lol I'm just trying to be creative for the blog post. But the bible is opened on the chapters I'm studying, read with the Pigma Micron pen and my highlighter.
Simple set up but combined with the Holy Spirit on my side, this is what has helped me engage and completely immerse myself in God's Word!

You should also share your daily driver mate ;)
Dont have one yet, still looking lol
This is really good especially when we do not want to forget a particular Bible passage
It’s very helpful
Hope it inspires us all to read more scripture :)
This is fire! Going to have to grab some of those pens
They are on another level...Just the perfect writing tool for any bible.
Thank you very much
This is really helpful
Glad it was of value for you!
I'm really inspired by your Bible study setup! I love how you've found a system that works for you, using the KJV Sovereign Wide Margin and Pigma Micron pens. Your approach to studying scripture is so thoughtful and engaging. I do hope to get some systematic that would work for me too. My study life has not been great at all
i'm still trying to figure this stuff out lol
