The Best Thing I've Witnessed This Week

Part of my job with my church is to attend the areas family summer camps....These are quite the events which draws speakers and families from around the world for a week filled with...

You guessed it!

Spirit filled goodness :)

I got to attend my first camp meeting last year, two in fact, and this is my third attendance to a camp meeting. It's been great so far.

Last night cemented my belief that the church is in good hands....

An elderly couple came into the store and wanted to buy a new bible for their grand daughter. So I did my normal Q&A, how old, does she like to journal etc...They only said, she's 19.

Not much to work with, but it gave me a few options to give them to look at.

They seemed to pick 3 that really hit home and told me to put them aside. They would go and get their grand daughter so she could make the final decision on which bible to choose.

The 3 they picked were...Very classy. One had a fantastic leather binding. Another was a deep study bible. And the last one was a 'creative' bible that allowed for journaling.

Perfect for her age group....At least we all thought.

So along comes the family back to make the decision and the young lady kind of turned up her nose at the 'fancy' 3 that her grand mother had picked out for her. She ended up picking a discreet, plain purple cover bible...With no fancy cover, and no 'in depth bible study tools'.

She just wanted the Word of God.

She then goes on to explain that she's actually in a mission field, and will be heading off in to central America or even South America in the fall with the church.

19 years old.

And with such an awesome relationship with her grandparents and more importantly her Lord and Savior.

People think that young folks don't want the gospel. Some thing church is outdated for this generation. I can tell you from first hand experience, this is not the case.

Day after day that I have been attending the camp, I've been blown away at how the Holy Spirit is in the lives of these young adults. They truly are fired up for God and it's so awesome to see.

I wasn't baptized until I was almost 40 years old. I grew up in a secular household and never gave church much thought at all. So I didn't get the blessing this young lady had with a family that obviously supports her spiritual life.

It's so awesome to see. I truly believe God has a great work to do, and it will begin with the younger generation!

We sometimes offer young people all kinds of extras when they really need and want the basics. I teach Bible using the Bible, same way I was taught. I teach math using classic style textbooks--not the fancy stuff from the Pearson textbook cartel. I teach literature using real books, not predigested 'literature" curriculum. !BBH

It was so cool to see. She was so humble and just loved the gift but said all she needed was the bible, nothing fancy.

I've been blown away at how the Holy Spirit is in the lives of these young adults. there are teenagers and youths who are much interested in the works of the Lord. it is just that the circular world doesn't fancy such. nevertheless, his Spirit is still spreading.

Wow
It’s rare to see elderly people buy Bible for kids. All they buy is gadgets. It’s so beautiful to see people who want to train their kids or grandkids with the ways of the Lord…
