Reflections From The Road

I've been sharing on a few platforms that I'm back on the road....
This is nothing new per se, because I've held the job I currently have for over 2 years now. And part of my job description is to do my 'route' about 4 times a year.
This takes me from Central Alberta where I live, to Southern Alberta. Then across southern Saskatchewan and as far east as Winnipeg Manitoba. I then make the trek back, but go on the northern part of my trip.
This includes stops in Dauphin Manitoba, Hudson Bay Saskatchewan and into Saskatoon Saskatchewan as well. Saskatoon is pretty special to me because not only did I used to live there and have some great friends in the city....But my oldest son is in law school at the University of Saskatchewan.
So it gives me a great opportunity multiple times a year to meet up with him :)
I truly love being on the road.
Yeah, it sucks being away from my wife and two younger sons....But I'm pretty sure there isn't a job on the planet I would rather be doing!
Maybe something that required me to sit on a beach in the Caribbean but alas.....
Nah seriously, I love this job. And why? What's so special about driving trucks around Western Canada?
It's what I'm hauling!
I work for my church. And my routes are designed to help service communities that don't have access to our store. And while you would think people would line up for buying products on Amazon, this church community is different.
I not only sell books and bibles, but also plenty of health food and supplies as well. Which means, the only opportunity some of these community members can get access to these products is when I show up in the trucks!
Want to know something slightly personal?
I am going to share with you something I prayed to God about for....Pretty much as long as I could remember.
This is pretty much verbatim, what I would ask God for almost daily....
"Lord, help me spread your Word in any way you can use me....."
I said this prayer for over 25 years. Literally, almost daily. And I know, I know...Vain repetition isn't the way to get God's attention....But there was something about that prayer that made me aware of certain things in my life....
I wasn't always a follower of Christ. Far from it. In fact, I was baptized in 2016 which makes me a decade old Christian. So let's do the math.....Over 25 years of saying that prayer, and 15 of those years I was VERY much in world.
Funny how the saying goes....
God's delays aren't His denials.
I think I'm living proof of that. And I had no idea how God would use me. I don't think it was when I was blowing hundreds of dollars a night on booze. And I would hope it wasn't when I was living in sin and worshipping everything but our Creator.
But God's delays....Are NOT His denials.
I kept praying and allowed God to use me. Even if I had no idea what that even meant. And throughout the years, I've crashed and burned more times than I can count. And heck, to be honest my family still hasn't recovered fully from losing everything.
However God works in your life...If you let Him!
I'm in Winnipeg now, about to head back west and start the northern run tomorrow afternoon. And each step of the way, I'm so thankful to Him. For answering the prayer and bringing glory to His name. I wouldn't trade this for the world....And trust me, 10 years ago, the world was all that mattered to me.

Great testimony, Jongo! "However God works in your life... if you let Him"-this line of yours rings so true. Believers just need to submit completely and let God Almighty handle the rest. Thank you, sir. As you journey spreading the Word and doing charity work, may the Great God continue to keep you safe and sound.
Thank you sir! Yeah, He answers prayers for sure...We just need to be ready for it when He provides the answer :)
It is great that you're not only bringing goods, but also hope and assistance to those who need it the most.
It's a job where I actually feel like I'm helping people!
God is the only way my brother, His restoration is everlasting
amen to that!
It is an inspirational story
thanks for checking it out
What do you think about Alberta becoming an independent country? Or maybe even joining the United States?
I am a fan of becoming independent and bringing Saskatchewan along for the ride. We have loads of oil and all the potash the world needs.
Ottawa needs to make things right but they won’t lol
