Is This Still The Formula?

We're going to have a little history lesson of sorts in tonight's blog post....

And while this may not be common knowledge around the blockchain, it's most definitely part of my journey here.

When I first joined the chain, we didn't have many options. And what I mean by that is....There was no $LEO. There was no Splinterlands. There was no Hive-Engine. You could earn the liquid token, you could earn Hive Power and you could earn HBD. So at the beginning of this chain, we had the hope that layer 2 tokens were coming, but all we had was...Hive, Hive Power and HBD.

There was different ways to earn on chain though. Delegation projects that used the curation model to reward accounts was quite popular and of course....Bid bots. That was an interesting time on chain for sure....

But once Hive Engine got launched, things really started to open up. It became very obvious that these projects that launched on Hive Engine still needed fuel in the form of Hive Power to grow and curate their community....So that seemed to be the formula for success on chain.

Get Hive Power => Delegate to projects you believe in.

I remember that question came up a lot on the podcast I co-hosted with @taskmaster4450le and my good buddy Task always agreed with the formula. He would say for new members of the blockchain to accumulate Hive Power first. Focus on that. Everything else will come after you build that up....

So here's the question I have for the entire chain....

Is that formula still be what we should recommend to new users of the chain?

And yeah, I get it...Hive isn't the sexiest blockchain to the outside world right now. Heck even here at home, there are a ton of issues that need to be addressed. But does building up Hive Power still appeal?

I know for me personally, that is my game plan right now. To me, I still think it allows me to do a few things that help not only my journey but the community overall...

  1. I can curate more creators! I'm one of the odd ones on chain but I still think when we upvote each other, people stick around. So the more Hive Power I have, the more I can curate and distribute.

  2. I can also delegate to projects I like and want to support. I have 2 projects right now that I'm delegating to. First is the $LEO community and @leo.voter and the other is the BBH Project by @bradleyarrow

  3. And another benefit is to delegate both resource credits and or Hive Power to users I introduce to the blockchain.

So while this may not be the most popular approach to building on chain, it still makes sense to me. And now is still the best time to create on chain and build your HP. Remember, with Hive prices so low, most have left and the competition to stick out from other creators is much lower. I'm not saying that the whales will flood your content with upvotes, but you will be sticking out from the crowd much more.

What are your plans for accumulating Hive Power and or delegating to projects?

The focus on building up Hive Power as a key strategy still strikes a chord with a lot of us. It is all about backing the community and encouraging growth.

I know that's what helped me the most when I got started....Seeing that my content was supported and valued. It made me stick around.

I just grow my HP and increase my HBD savings.

I see a lot of sense here.

That should be the way forward.

I believe the most favorite formula is to lick people who have control over big account curation, and beg for votes everytime they make a post.

People who keep powering up have become rare, and small people like me who keep powering up are often addressed as blockhead by others.

but who knows... maybe one day it will change
