In The Last Days...

Let me talk to you on a personal level today....

This is straight out of the bible, and I saw it for myself. Just mean spirited wickedness that reminded me of...

Now let me be crystal clear....Most of us, myself included could fit the description laid out here in 2 Timothy. And no matter what translation of the bible you read, essentially this means in the last days of earth's history people are just going to be rotten.

And please note, I'm raising my hand as someone guilty as charged!

But what I saw today just blew my mind and all I thought about what this part of the bible...

First, I was told that I needed to give my head a shake and be better because....Wait for it....I didn't have a book in stock. From a nice elderly woman too.

Not only that she was outraged at the price of the things she bought and decided I was her punching bag.

An elderly woman, with the tongue of a viper spitting at me lol

Then next example was great.....Some man in about his early 30's decided (he wasn't a fan of my church' decided to cuss and raise his middle finger towards my store.

Not a big deal, but the kicker way....There was a yound girl in the store, about 5-6 years old with her parents that got to see it for herself.

The first thing she asks is...'Mommy what does &#%^##^% mean'?*

It really stopped me in my tracks....Look, I get dirt flung at me all the time, I'm Christian, it's supposed to be like this. But today just hit me differently.

I saw an elderly woman just angry at everything, which who knows what she was going through. So I pray for her!

And then the younger man, angry at the church for perhaps very good reasons. So I pray for him as well.

But this is the world we live in folks....It's beautiful day here after some storms rolled through. The sun is shining, the birds are out, you can hear laughter in the distance.....But the devil got his way around my store today.

This is why I believe, we need to guard our tongues. Make sure we represent the gift we have been given in Christ. It's a nasty world and I don't see it getting any better. Maybe we just need to make our world and community better around us first.

I have frequently heard, that the secret to a long and happy life, is to never say the first thing or the second thing which comes to mind in many situations.

The pause it takes to go from the first thing, to the second thing and to the third thing gives you time to calm down, see the wisdom in not poking bear or slaughtering a squirrel. It also often results in a much more neutral and less wrath provoking response.

We will live longer by practicing empathy, patience and restraint because everyone is armed these days and looking for a reason to use their firearm.

Practice the art of thoughtful contemplation, awareness of ones mortal nature and the willingness of others to inflict mortal wounds.

Lord give us strength and good eyesight to see assholes from a mile away!

It is truly discouraging to observe such negativity, particularly in public areas where young minds are easily influenced.

This is believed to be Paul's last letter to Timothy before being executed in Rome. The last days to which he refers were the present days to Paul. In other words, the apostles were living in the last days. The apostles believed that the last days were triggered with Christ delivering on God's promises. We have been in the last days for over 2000 years as the gospel is as relevant today as it was then.

But this goes your point. People were rotten back then and have continued to be so to this day. And you are correct that we should remain steadfast in faith and good example for others. It's a pity that people feel compelled to be nasty. There's more work to do.

That's a whole other study on the end of times vs the times of the end. The bible even talks about it, where is the promised return? We need to make sure we are not found asleep because we think Christ isn't coming back soon. foolish virgins and all ;)

It’s serious how true 2nd Timothy feels these days. The way people act sometimes really makes you reflect on where we are. Thanks for sharing this, it’s a good reminder for all of us.

I love how you pray for everyone. That’s the spirit and that’s what Jesus Christ has taught us to do
Even though they do not like us, we should pray for them

Well said. I often had to explain to my children that lost people are going to say/do things like that. They don't have Jesus, so they don't know what to do with their anger. !BBH
