I Get So Weak In The Knees...

My Catholic friends might have an issue with some points I'm about to bring up :)

But before we start throwing 'rocks' at each other, let's dive into the verses for today's #bible911 post!

Psalm 18 verses 1 to 29. I read from the King James Version and in a lot of editions of the KJV we see the superscription and we know that David wrote this on the day he was delivered from King Saul. That gives us plenty of context for the following 29 verses.

There are a big word that pop up's up right at the beginning of verse 2....And here's where we upset some of our Catholic friends....

If you do a quick search in a concordance, you will see the word rock associated with God pretty much throughout the entire bible. But there's the itty bitty verse in Matthew 16 verse 18 that Catholics seem to think Peter is the rock and the start of their church.

So we can take what the bible says, where pretty much every verse that mentions rock in Scripture, points to God....Or we take the 'tradition' of men. And you should see what the bible says about the tradition of men...

But getting back to the Psalm and the theme of being weak and needing God, we did it right there...

My rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my God, my strength...All these terms for our Saviour are present from the get go. A strong reminder for everyone that might be feeling weak, physically or spiritually...God is a solid foundation to build your faith on!

Moving on, I wonder if David was super surprised that he survived all that King Saul threw at him...Literally! (that's a bible joke for those that know Scripture!)

David talks about the awesome power and deity that is our Creator. How the earth shook and trembled in verse 7 to the shootings of lightning in verse 14. David is clearly praising God with reverence and awe. And that's sometimes something I forget to do. Remember who is the Creator and who is the creature.

And then things start to change up....

Gratitude!

I know when I'm feeling weak and unworthy, there is nothing like thanking God for everything He blessed me with. And David does just that in these verses. After the awe and praise, comes the gratitude!

And just before the end of the verses in the graphic above, we see this...

The results of a faithful relationship with God.

We know the troubles come. That's guaranteed in Scripture.

And during the trials of life, we will feel weak. That's again, guaranteed in Scripture. But what are we taught to do? Give it all to the Lord!

He will make the darkness light. He will light the candle so you can see. And if we see the example that David shares with us here, we know we are in very good hands with our Creator.

I pray these posts are a blessing to you as we go through the 'Emergency Numbers' found in the bible. And I would love to welcome you to our Kingdom bible community here on the blockchain. We have a full community on chain plus a Discord server to stay up to date with your fellow believers in Christ.

Believers unite by focusing on Jesus as chief cornerstone (1 Corinthians 3:11), engaging Scripture together, praying for the Holy Spirit's guidance, and serving collaboratively despite differences .This fosters hope in God's faithfulness, the true Rock.Until seeing Him,transcending debates for mission and love.
