Don't Let The World Get To You!

I think I have figured out why I wanted to do these #bible911 posts...

The first reason, which is the most important is to proclaim the name of Christ and hopefully, by God's grace, someone finds huge value to these posts and begins a relationship with Him!

But the second reason, which I have to admit, is a little selfish...Is that I start prayerfully following the amazing advice found in these scriptures. And today's verses really hit home.

I'm going to read them, re-read them and remember when push comes to shove, we serve an awesome God!

We find these emergency numbers in Colossians, chapter 3:

I just had an argument with a family member literally an hour ago. So as you could imagine, I was feeling pretty disgusted...Mostly with myself. I read these first few verses and it's almost like...God was speaking directly to me.

Verse 12 and 13 convicted me, right from the start! We're the elect from God and Paul is telling us that we should be filled with...Mercies, kindness, longsuffering, and forgiveness....God forgave us through Christ so...Yeah we should be the cream of the crop when it comes with how we deal with other people.

Verse 14 is the reason why....

Charity in the King James Version means...Love.

Put love on, that's how we form the character of God. And here I am, arguing with a loved one as soon as I get hime from my recent road trip for work. Wow, wretched man that I am...

But the Holy Spirit convicted me and these verses are really impacting me as I re-read them!

Look at verse 15. Wow!

Let the peace of God rule our hearts!! And always be thankful! Remembering the grace that we freely receive. And then we see these amazing verses wrapping up with verse 16, reminding us to stay focused in the Word. Singing. Praising our Creator! And finally in verse 17, we give all the praise and glory to Him.

I'm just sitting here, as I write this, being blown away at how God works. What perfect timing for these verses to come across my eyes...I don't think there could have been a more perfect message, exactly when I needed it.

The point for me personally, is that grace abounds, however I can't keep dwelling on the negativity. It does absolutely nothing for my mental health, and even less for my spiritual health either.

The devil knows very well, when we don't follow God. When we aren't thankful. When the anger dwells in our heart....It separates us from God. But the good news is that, it doesn't have to. Quick bible hack would be to remember Philippians 4:8 (like I mentioned in the last #bible911 post) is a detailed instruction on how to focus on heaven, and less on the evils and drama of this world.

I pray my family member forgives me, and I'm about to go ask for forgiveness from them. Never let anger go to bed with you!

Hope you guys have a great day and keep that focus on Christ!!

This portion of the Bible, calls believers to "put on" a new way of life as God's chosen people.

They serve as "emergency numbers" for spiritual crises, reminding believers to return to these fundamentals for strength and guidance.Applying them can lead to deeper faith, stronger communities and a more authentic witness to the world.
Enjoy the rest of your day,@jongolson
