Danger Will Robinson!

It's always interesting how I get motivated to write a blog post in the #bible911 series and the days reading literally...Speaks directly to me.

God is good!

We've been through some new testament scriptures over the past few weeks, but this series really got started with the Psalms. So it's only right that we return to the poetry book of all poetry books!

And from the graphic you can see we're diving into Psalm 91....With the theme of being 'In danger'.

When I was 'in the world' my mom used to always suggest that I read the Psalms. IO've already shared with you my back story when it came to Psalm 23, but the 91st division was another one she used to suggest to me.

Being the stubborn 'know it all' 30-something, I ignored it. But then one part of Psalm 91 stuck out to me, more than any other in the chapter...

O.k., there's a lot to unpack in this chapter and it gets REAL good in later verses, but verse number 7 has always struck a chord with me.

Why?

A thousand shall fall.....Ten thousand at thy right side......BUT IT SHALL NOT COME NIGHT THEE!

Danger. Wars. Famines. Hatred. Strife. This world is a mess....And if you take the bible at it's word, it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. But look at what God says happens with all the madness that surrounds us...

It shall NOT come nigh thee!

Every time I read this verse, I picture 'demons' trying to reach me. All of them wanted me to fall into sin and denounce my faith. Temptations all around but....I keep my eyes fixed heavenwards....

It shall NOT come night thee!

Talk about 911 ....How about Psalms 91:11 ;)

Why will danger slide right past you?

Look at that promise! Heavenly beings, given to us to protect us. As long as we keep our eyes on Christ, this is the promise that we can hold to.

I don't think anyone reads this chapter and just shrugs it off as fantasy. Yeah, bad things STILL happen to God's people. This world is ruled by the 'enemy'. I think that's something we as follower's of Christ need to remind ourselves of daily.

Bad things happen. It's guaranteed. But when we are seeking the kingdom of God, our focus is always on Christ. That's a powerful thought....

And even hits home for me much more as I read and re-read Psalms 91. We may not be in danger physically, but I guarantee you....We are always in danger spiritually.

Keep Psalms 91 in your back pocket to remind yourself, who we serve!!

Thank you for this, very lovely Psalms 🙏 I need to take my time reading more of them.

I especially love the second one, the thought of guardian angels. I wonder, there must be legitimacy to this claim? As far as I know, Psalms were all written by man, right? but they must have received visions, etc. If Enoch walked with the angels, is it possible we have some watching over every one of us? You have to figure, heaven must be abundant in angels after all of these years 😄

Not sure of this is biblical or not, but I read somewhere that there should be at least 1-2 angel for every human being that ever lived. Pretty sure that's not in the bible but in Revelation, the second coming will have the skies filled with them.

Good morning Sir, good to see #bible911 series once again.

Yeah! Dwelling intimately with the Most High via faith; fearing nothing, for victory comes to those loving Him, with deliverance and long life.

Psalm 91,equips Believers for fearless living amid trials, prioritizing God's refuge over dread.
