A New Creature

It's been a week or so since our last #biblejournal entry....And it's going to be a little bit longer :)

Reason why, is that the Spirit put something on my heart that I wanted to talk to you guys about....And it's most definitely a personal testimony. So let me frame this for you....

I spent decades building online businesses. I was the 'face' of my company for years and built a personal brand that for better or worse, ended up sticking with me throughout my career. I always tried to do the right thing. Of course, I am not perfect and some decisions I made over the years may leave some people scratching their heads.

But when push came to shove, all I ever wanted was to serve my community and show people the passion I had for online entrepreneurship. But along the way, I was immature. I used to argue with people that never agreed with me, and I forgot the Scripture verse that to this day, I claim as my favorite in the bible.....

Yeah, this was prophetic lol

Like you guys know, I lost everything. Since 2017-ish I've been trying to put my life back together and it was most definitely not an enjoyable experience. I believe God humbled me, so that I could dedicate my life to serving Him. I just wasn't sure how that would happen...

But there was something I didn't lose...My digital footprint, aka my social media accounts.

In them, you will find som great content. But you'll also find a Jongo that was very much in the world. I used to cuss. I used to fight. I used to be as secular as it gets. And I'm sure I hurt a lot of people along the way. Thankfully, by God's mercy and grace....That Jongo is long since dead.

In January of 2024, I was blessed with my dream job. I was able to work for the Lord and support my family. So I decided, shut down all the social media accounts and just focus my entire life on God. Which makes sense, and it wasn't so much that I was ashamed of my past....It was more that I wanted to lessen the noise of the world and let God be my focus.

And then I had a great conversation with my good friend @waytruthlife13 a few weeks ago....

We were talking about the fact that I could still use my social media accounts to reach others for the Lord, but I was SUPER weirded out about the fact that the things I used to say on those accounts, might not be the cleanest of things....

She reminded me of this HUGE truth for Christians;

Here's the simple fact about a journey with Christ...

We can't change the past. We are wretched in sin. Nothing we can do can change that or make us 'right' with God.

Only Jesus can!

To me, that is the good news in a nutshell. We are new creatures and the old things are passed away. Not because of something we did, far from it. It might not give us a blank slate in the world, but it does with God.

And again, it's not that I run from my past. I wouldn't change a thing (other than not spend as much money on alcohol as I did over the years lol), because it molded me. It challenged me. It humbled me.

But like @waytruthlife13 said, it's pretty much evidence of how God changes us. From someone in the world, with a rotten vocabulary and living for self...So a man on the journey of sanctification with his Lord and Savior.
