1440 Minutes A Day....In Scripture?

avatar

On this little Christian walk I take part in, I do a daily devotional exercise.

In fact, some of you know about it because you have actually joined me in it over the years. A group of us in the Kingdom Bible Study group, start out on January 1st to read through the entire bible.

This will be the third time this year that the group is doing so. So shameless self promotion, if you wanna join in the fun, check out our Discord community.

Anywho....

I'm reading today's devotion and I come across Proverbs 4 verse 7....It stopped me in my tracks.

This book of the bible is pretty much the greatest personal development book in history, and right here we see King Solomon who was the wisest man to ever live, tell his readers to....Get wisdom!

And the wisdom he is talking about is most definitely a God-filled education. Learning everything we can about our Lord and Savior. So this got me thinking about an old entrepreneurial lesson I used to teach when I was in the world...

We each have 1440 minutes a day. Nothing more. And what we choose to spend those minutes oin, determines our destiny and future. In a business frame of mind, this means spend your time getting better at your craft. Personal development, training, reading, eduction, etc...

But what about those of us on a spiritual wlak?

I love this verse in Philippians.

Here we see Paul warning people of faith of the things we should be focusing on. Notice he doesn't seem to say we should focus on....The evils of the world. Focus on what is pure, just, lovely and of good report.

So we see clearly in the bible, that God wants us to focus on Him and what is good. Because it's way too easy to get trapped in the bad...

Want some proof?

Go check out any of your favorite social media platforms....I'm sure you will see evil at every turn.

So I'm reading Proverbs and thinking, is this even possible?

Can I ignore the bad and focus on the good? Can I spend as many of those 1440 minutes in a day focused on God and His word?

Let's see what King David said about this...

Hmm, that's interesting!

I know, I know...We can't sit around all day and just read the bible. There's this crazy thing called life happening all around us but here's what I think all this means to those of us on this walk...

Spend as much time, as many of those 1440 minutes in your day...Focused on God.

Because remember, what we spend the most time thinking about, we will behold. And that becomes our future. And I don't know about you, but I want to spend that future with Christ for all eternity.

The choice is always ours...

I think only older people can sit around all day and read the bible :)

Love this perspective. It’s so easy to waste time on nonsense, but being intentional about focusing on God definitely shifts everything. I have to work on using more of those 1440 minutes wisely

The devil is smart. He knows the distractions of the world keep us from God's word.

I just feel that in a day, even if we do not read the Bible, all our actions should be according to the scripture and according to the will of God

Agreed. If we aren't actually living what we learn, that's false religion and fake Christianity

We can't sit around all day and just read the bible. You can become a walking bible, even while working keep meditating. Remember Psalm 1:1-2( on His law he meditates day and night). God also said, he will put His word in our heart rather than the former tablet inscriptions

Truly, I can’t read the Bible for a whole day but it’s good to check on our Bible everyday to read at least a verse so we will be fillers with the word of the Lord through the day
