Ooh… red tide, no fun! I’ve been lucky enough to avoid it all these years.

I do love me some fresh crab, though! Some of my favorite memories of growing up in the Northwest involve trips to the beach, lunch in a little chowder house, and yes even a crabbing expedition. My parents had very little money, but they believed in “experiences.” So we drove out to the coast a lot, usually with packed lunches. And now and then we got to stay in a little beach motel, or buy saltwater taffy, or go out on a boat to catch crabs. Those were the days, my friend.
