Hello dear #ShadowHunters community,

This is my entry for the Reflection Hunters contest number 275.

While looking through some old photographs, I came across an image that immediately transported me back several years.

It was taken in 2019 in the city of Matanzas, near the well-known Calixto García Bridge, better known by everyone as the Tirry Bridge. At that time, the area was one of the most popular places for young people to spend an evening with friends.

That night, after visiting different places and enjoying a few beers at a local establishment called Entre Puentes, we walked toward Narváez Street, which had become a lively meeting point for the city's nightlife.

It was already past ten o'clock at night.

From a certain angle, it was possible to admire the bridge illuminated by dozens of lights. Below, the calm waters of the San Juan River reflected those lights, creating a beautiful scene filled with color and symmetry.

The reflection seemed to double the beauty of the place.

The lights stretched across the surface of the river, broken only by the gentle movement of the water. It was one of those moments that seemed ordinary at the time but later became far more valuable in memory.

Looking at the photograph today produces mixed feelings.

There is nostalgia because it reminds me of a pleasant evening spent among friends, walking through a city full of life and movement.

But there is also sadness when I compare that image with the reality of today.

At present, scenes like this have become increasingly difficult to witness. A simple nighttime walk along the riverbank is no longer something that can be taken for granted. The lack of electricity has changed many aspects of daily life, including the possibility of enjoying the city after sunset.

The bridge is still there.

The river is still there.

The reflection would still be possible.

Yet the conditions that allowed that image to exist seem much more fragile than they once were.

As I observed the photograph, I found myself wondering how long this situation will last. Whether one day those lights will return regularly, whether people will once again gather along the river at night, and whether scenes like this will stop being memories and become part of everyday life again.

Perhaps that is why I appreciate this reflection so much.

Not only because it captures lights upon water, but because it preserves a moment in time that now feels much more distant than the years that have passed since it was taken.

Hola querida comunidad de #ShadowHunters,

Esta es mi entrada para el concurso Reflection Hunters número 275.

Revisando algunas fotografías antiguas me encontré con una imagen que inmediatamente me transportó varios años atrás.

Fue tomada en el año 2019 en la ciudad de Matanzas, cerca del conocido puente Calixto García, más popularmente llamado por todos como puente de Tirry. En aquella época, esa zona era uno de los lugares preferidos por muchos jóvenes para pasar la noche entre amigos.

Aquella noche, después de recorrer varios sitios y disfrutar de unas cervezas en un local llamado Entre Puentes, nos acercamos a la calle Narváez, que por entonces se había convertido en un punto muy concurrido de la vida nocturna matancera.

Ya pasaban de las diez de la noche.

Desde cierto ángulo podía contemplarse el puente completamente iluminado. Debajo, las aguas tranquilas del río San Juan reflejaban aquellas luces, creando una imagen llena de brillo y simetría.

El reflejo parecía duplicar la belleza del lugar.

Las luces se extendían sobre la superficie del río, interrumpidas solamente por el suave movimiento del agua. Era uno de esos momentos que en aquel instante parecían normales, pero que con el paso del tiempo adquieren un valor mucho mayor.

Hoy, al observar la fotografía, experimento sentimientos encontrados.

Por una parte, nostalgia. Me recuerda una noche agradable, compartida entre amigos, recorriendo una ciudad llena de movimiento y vida.

Pero también siento tristeza cuando comparo esa imagen con la realidad actual.

Hoy resulta cada vez más difícil contemplar escenas como esta. Un simple paseo nocturno por la orilla del río ya no es algo que pueda darse por sentado. La falta de electricidad ha transformado muchos aspectos de la vida cotidiana, incluyendo la posibilidad de disfrutar la ciudad después de la puesta del sol.

El puente sigue ahí.

El río también.

Y el reflejo seguiría siendo posible.

Sin embargo, las condiciones que permitían disfrutar una imagen como esta parecen mucho más frágiles que antes.

Mientras observaba la fotografía me descubrí haciéndome varias preguntas. ¿Cuánto tiempo durará esta situación? ¿Volverán algún día esas noches iluminadas a formar parte de la rutina? ¿Podremos repetir una imagen como esta sin que parezca algo excepcional?

Tal vez por eso aprecio tanto este reflejo.

No solo porque captura luces sobre el agua, sino porque conserva un instante de una época que hoy parece mucho más lejana de lo que indican los años transcurridos.
