Research work was indeed expensive

Money is the most important thing in life, and we need money in almost every case. Thinking about life without money is impossible, in my opinion. That’s why we work hard to make as much money as possible, but spending money is easier than earning it. One needs to be careful while spending money; otherwise, difficult times will be faced as consequences are very natural. And I belong to the category of people who spend money when it’s necessary.

I mentioned several times last year that it was the most expensive year for me till now, even if I could save a good amount of money compared to the prediction. For what reason did I spend the maximum amount of money last year? I have a clear answer to it because I know where, how, and why I spend my money. Are you curious to know what it was and whether I will choose to spend money for the same reason again? I am going to share my thoughts related to it.

Last year I completed my post-graduation exam, and after that I need to submit my research paper. Doing research needs a good amount of time, as from time to time various kinds of data need to be collected based on the research topic. My research topic was related to plastic pollution in two famous tourist spots, and I needed to cover a good amount of area from both locations. I collected data for 1 year in total for data collection. I needed to go to both tourist spots every month, which are a little far from my house. So, travelling each time costs a good amount of money, as transportation fees were not so little.

I needed some instruments for data collection, and all of those instruments weren’t available in my department, and because of that, I needed to buy some instruments. Those were few instruments, but those instruments cost me a good amount of money, and as I needed them, I couldn’t refuse to spend money on them.
Again, after writing the thesis paper, I needed to make 5 copies of it, and printing those and binding that paper was not cheap either. I didn’t expect it to be so costly either. Now the question is whether it was worthy or not. Was I happy to do so and ready to do it again if there are options like that in the future?

I think it was worthy, and it gave me the feeling of a sense of achievement. I think that I have learned a lot of things during that time, and because of that, I was able to visit tourist places many times, which was an additional bonus to me. Additionally, it will share valuable information for the researcher after publication, and others may benefit from it. In fact, it can share valuable information, which can also help other researchers and decision makers to improve the situation. So, I think that it was a worthy one even if it cost me. Moreover, I got my marks for my thesis paper also. But in case of choosing to do it again, I won’t choose to do so. I can go for it if I get funds for research, as it’s expensive and I can’t continue it again relying on the fund of mine. I think I shared my thoughts related to the topic already.
