Pay high tax for unhealthy products is not bad
TAX is a very important thing for a country. A country needs funds to operate all the necessary systems for a country, and TAX is one of the major sources of funds. That is the reason paying tax is very important. According to law, we are bound to pay it. Although there are some ways to avoid tax, it's illegal, and I don't think that can bring any good results for a country.
As citizens of a country, almost all of us pay our taxes. When it comes to property and assets, we need to pay it manually; otherwise, we'll face difficulty later because of violation of the law. I need a case of buying any product or service we are paying for every time. Every product we buy includes the tax. Many people are not aware of it, but we are paying taxes for each product we buy unless those products come to the country in an illegal way.
Depending on the products, the charges of taxes can be different. Naturally, our government charges more taxes on this product, which we buy to live a luxurious life. Suppose we are buying food; the tax on it is not so high, like when we go to buy a car or something that is ready for a luxurious life. Charging high taxes for those products is not fair from one perspective, but from another perspective, it's quite understandable to charge high taxes because the government is not forcing anyone to buy them. It's like if you want luxury, then you need to pay high taxes because luxury is not for the poor.
Among the food, there are many unhealthy products that are not good for people to consume. But there are always some people who go for it. Alcohol and cigarettes are a very common example of it. They are very harmful for our health, and those cost a lot of money. Based on my observation, most of people are reluctant to leave those products from consuming. This product is harmful to health, and I think everyone knows that if health starts to collapse, it can bring trouble for the whole family.
So, in my opinion, charging extremely high taxes on those unhealthy products won't be bad. In fact, I think it's beneficial for channel people because extremely high taxes may create a fear of buying those. In my eyes, it's very simple because I don't consume these unhealthy products, but those who do may have a different opinion.
I think that even if the government charges high taxes on those products, it won't stop people from consuming them, but it would have an advantage because in those cases, the amount of consumption will be reduced for sure, because they can't spend money continuously on it like in the past. And if they consume it less, it will be harmless to their health, and that's the reason I fully support the government if it changes the high taxes on it.

Having taxes to get funds for public expenses is a must and I'm in favor of course.
Taxes should be fair, this is, more taxes to those that have more.
Here in Europe we have an unfair tax, the VAT also known as IVA in my country. The tax is pegged to the product and is fixed. No matter if you're rich or poor, you pay the same, is that fair? not at all.
Raising taxes for those 'unhealthy' products is aberrant. A gobernment is no one to tell me what is good or bad, I'm an adult and I want my free choice legal right to not being undermined.
That's a small resume on my thoughts on your post which I find interesting but lacking of a deep an open view.

I already said it can be taken from two perspective and I also fully understand what you said and it's reasonable also. I won't argue with it. But I have written the post considering the health only and if you consider health you need to reduce the harmful products. So, I said it's good to force people to charge high taxes for those products.

Indeed, taxes are the government's source of funding.
This made me think about cigarettes, liquor, and tobacco, which have high taxes (called SIN taxes) in my country, but people still buy them.
Hmm. But at a certain point they will be forced to reduce the amount of consuming unless they have unlimited money. At least, it will be less harm to them.

Cigarettes is too cheap to buy and that's why some people take it in excess always . Likewise other unhealthy products , it will really make sense to place high tax on it, thereby reducing the rate of consumption for a more healthy living
Hmm. High taxes may not stop them consuming those but it will force them to reduce the amount of consuming and that what I want to see high tax on those products.

Increasing the taxation of these products can be a good way to deter people, but it must be accompanied by information measures and awareness campaigns. A more informed population is a population better prepared to make more conscious choices.
I agree with you and campaigns can be a good way to create awareness but I think people love to understand in a hard way. It's just my opinion.

I guess that's the thing. Those who really want it, may not care about the price. It won't matter if they can afford it or not, once that hunger is there, they'll do everything they can to get it.
Most of the people are addicted with those unhealthy products and even if with the high charges they won't stop consuming but they will be forced to reduce consuming it.
