You know how light travels at a specific propagation? Yet, light is the same speed for all observers due to relativity.

I suspect the return of Christ will happen at a specific time, yet it will happen at the same time for all observers. So "sleep" is the best description. Each observer eventually sleeps until Christ returns, and from their perspective, it all happens at the same time as everyone else.
