Saturday HiveChess S2R15- 11th Place!

Greetings to all chess fans! I missed last week's tournament but this time I checked the announcement and made sure to join the 15th round of Saturday HiveChess. It's a weekly chess Arena blitz tournament which run for over an hour. It starts at eleven pm our time and ends at midnight. The time control for this round was three minute blitz with an option to go on "berserk". Going berserk will give you half the time (one and a half minutes) but will give you an extra point if you win.

I had a poor start and lost many games early in the tournament. Lichess also bugged on me or maybe due to poor internet connection, I was not able to start two games and lost on default. But still, the tournament was fun and I had rare wins against my frequent tormentors @jaki01 and @stayoutoftherz.

My first game against @sam.chess. He blundered with Nxd7 and left his Bishop on a3 and Rook on a1 hanging after I recaptured with Kxd7. There was no way to save either piece. He was going to lost a piece with less time because he played berserk. I won this game and we faced each other again later in the round and he got his revenge.

I found a mate in one in this game against @migmag. My f4 Bishop was covering b8 and Qa8 was mate.

I was worse against @stayoutoftherz in our game until we reached this position. I felt I got the initiative due to my more active Rook. With time winding down, it was easier to find moves targeting Black's pawns with my Rook.

I was prepared for another beatdown against @jaki01. Somehow I found counterplay along the h1-a8 diagonal to keep his attack in check and won on time.

Thanks to @sam.chess @samostically for hosting and congratulations to the winners!

Good recap. Do you feel that writing this helps you improve your chess?

Thanks. Not writing by itself but analyzing games and writing about them improves my games. Or at least I like to believe so :)

We both missed Rg4 on move 8 which would have won you a piece. :)
