Greetings to all chess fans. I haven't played for weeks now but I still solve puzzles. Solving puzzles enhances my eye for tactics and makes it easier to recognize tactical solutions in actual games. Today I picked up quick games on lichess. The first game I played was won by such tactic. It's not an impressive tactic leading to mate but its enough to win in a three minute blitz game.
The game started with 1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 d5 3. Bg5 Ne4

The Trompovsky Attack. It leads to similar structures as the London System that I'm familiar with. 4. Bf4 c6 5. e3 Bf5 6. Bd3 Nd7 7. Qe2 e6 8. c3 Qb6

Since White's dark squared bishop on f4 cannot return on the Queen side, it has left pawn on b2 weak and becomes a target. Consequently, White's Knight on b1 cannot go to d2 yet or else the pawn of b2 will be left undefended. 9. Ne5

A mistake. White should have casteld instead or moved h3 to give room for his bishop on f4. 9. ...Nxe5 10. Bxe5 f6 11. Bg3

In this position, I already saw the tactic to win material. It's a decisive advantage that's enough to convert to a win. 11. ...Nxg3 12. hxg3 Bxd3

Distracts the White Queen from the defense of the b2 pawn. Consequently, it will also lead to a loss of his Rook on a1 as a consequence of not castling. 13. Qxd3 Qxb2 14. Rxh7 Rxh7 15. Qxh7 Qxa1 16. Qg6+

White tried to counterattack on the King side but with only his lone Queen, it's not enough. 16. ...Ke7 17. Qc2

Traps my Queen on a1 but I will only have to activate my Rook and Bishop and it will be my win. 17. ...Kf7 18. Ke2 a5 19. g4 a4 20. g5 a3 21. g6+ Ke8 22. Qd3 Qb2+ 23. Kf3 Qxa2 { White resigns. } 0-1

The simplest way to win is to march Black's a pawn and get another Queen.

Playing chess is great for the mind but let's not forget about physical activities. I recently committed to exercise and to keep me motivated, I joined actifit.io
