But for that very reason, we must learn to overcome our fear of fear.

Cuando nos enfrentamos a algo nuevo y extraño, es normal en la especie humana que hagamos rechazo; por el simple hecho de que tememos a las consecuencias que puede traer, no la tecnología, no a lo nuevo, sino nuestro error al utilizarlos.
Pero, por eso mismo, debemos aprender que tenemos que perderle miedo al miedo.

Esto de lo que les hablo es un hecho histórico. Ante la aparición de cualquier nueva tecnología, el ser humano siempre ha estado reacio. Recuerdo que ni mi madre ni mi padre querían utilizar el celular. “No entendían los aparatos esos” según sus palabras.
En la actualidad, no hay un día en el que no me revise una videollamada por WhatsApp, o no se intercambien mensajes o correos electrónicos con sus familiares y amigos en el extranjero.

Con los niños es diferente, ya que desde el primer momento en que tomaron un celular o una tablet en sus manos, comenzaron a utilizarlos sin miedo a lo que pudiera suceder. Básicamente, nacieron inmersos en la tecnología y eso está como algo natural en sus vidas.
Con mis padres tuve que enseñarlos, paso a paso. Lo básico primero y sobre todo enseñarles a no tenerle miedo a la tecnología.
Para eso me sirvó muchísimo una aplicación imprescindible la de deshacer..
Siempre les dije que, no importa que hicieran algo mal, porque si cometen algún error, ellos podrían regresar hasta el punto en dónde no lo hubieran cometido.
En otras palabras: si rompían algo podían volver a componerlo.
Ya con eso, estuvieron más tranquilos.

Tranquilos, pero el miedo no se les quitó. Y eso es normal. Yo misma, cuando comienzo a utilizar o conocer una nueva tecnología (nueva para mí, no necesariamente nueva en el mundo), comienzo con mucha cautela.
Y eso es lo que le recomiendo a todos: comiencen poco a poco. Aprendan a utilizar las nuevas tecnologías en la medida en que las necesites: opción por opción, aplicación por aplicación.
Hay que leer bien cada botón para qué funciona. Ese es uno de los males más recurrentes en las personas mayores: no leen.
Casi todas están pensadas de formas intuitivas y por inmersión. Por eso son cada vez más fáciles de utilizar.
Amigos, la tecnología ni es buena ni es mala en sí misma. Al fin y al cabo, es una herramienta que puede ser buena o mala, en dependencia del uso que se les dé. La tecnología bien utilizada es útil, pero su utilizada utilizada en aspectos para los que no fueron creadas, pueden ser perjudiciales.

Lo que sí no podemos negar es que la tecnología es necesaria. Negarla no solo es ingenuidad, sino que puede ser considerado como negligencia. Vivimos en un mundo que cada vez está más informatizado y automatizado.
Ni mis padres pudieron escapar de la tecnología. Hoy la utilizan con bastante naturalidad. Y no me refiero solamente a los teléfonos inteligentes sino también a la internet. Es que hasta los propios electrodomésticos de uso diario son de nuevas tecnologías.
