Our friend @neuropoeta brings us this new initiative about little Sunday miracles. At the risk of falling into cliché, I'll say that my little miracles are my two children.

The first thing that counts is their conception. No one can deny the magic that occurs during fertilization (beyond what happens biologically). My two children are fruits of love and have been raised with love.
The second miracle about them is that, despite being raised the same way, each one has a completely different personality.
The oldest was quite sickly in his first five years. We almost had to put him in a glass case so he wouldn't get sick. We were afraid of everything. However, his father and I remembered when we were little and lost that fear, and instead of overprotecting him, we gave him complete freedom.

Now, both he and his little brother bathe in the rain, romp on the ground with the animals, play in the dirt... in short, they have fun like any happy child should. Since then, they have rarely gotten sick. And when they do, their illness lasts a couple of days at most. In fact, his father and I have gotten sick, and they haven't.
And from there comes the other miracle: they surprise us with their things every day of this life. They're polite children, they read, get top grades, behave well... but they're children, and they do unimaginable things.

I remember that when the youngest was two years old, we used to let him crawl around the house. One day, our dog gave birth, and we let them play with her puppies. Suddenly, we heard the puppies complaining more than usual, and when we went to see what was happening, we found the boy sucking on the dog's teat and not allowing the puppies to nurse as well. That's why they complained.
The older one also did his thing, but in his case, what he did was eat with the rest of the animals. He would eat his food, and theirs, if they weren't there. It was hard to break him of that bad habit.
These things may seem unbelievable, but they happened. And rather than thinking they were bad things, I just laughed, and today I'm happy with the people they're becoming.
My two miracles are very loving and empathetic children.
They protect their school friends as well as stray animals. Today, they ask me for food to take to the cats that live in the abandoned house on the next block and to the stray dogs. The other day, with the help of their father, they built a small kennel to protect the stray animals from the sun. And that was their idea.

They say they saw it on a Facebook video. If they're going to copy something from the internet, I'm glad it's good stuff.
And I think that's another excellent miracle.
I could go on for hours talking about them and the wonders they accomplish every day. I think all happy, imaginative children are like that, so you'll understand. Even their crazy antics seem like the most incredible and beautiful things in the world to me.
And in fact, most of the time, they are.

Hola, amigos de Green Zone

Nuestra amiga @neuropoeta nos trae esta nueva iniciativa sobre los pequeños milagros de domingo. A riesgo de caer en el cliché, diré que mis pequeños milagros son mis dos hijos.

Lo primero que cuenta es su concepción. Nadie puede negar la magia que se produce durante la fecundación (más allá de lo que biológicamente sucede). Mis dos hijos son frutos del amor y con amor han sido criados.
El segundo milagro en ellos es que, a pesar de que han sido criados del mismo modo, cada uno tiene una personalidad completamente diferente.
El mayor fue bastante enfermizo en sus primeros cinco años. Casi que teníamos que ponerlo en una urna de cristal para que no se enfermara. Teníamos miedo de todo. Sin embargo, su padre y yo nos acordamos de cuando éramos pequeños y perdimos ese temor y en lugar de sobreprotegerlo, le dimos total libertad.

Ahora, tanto él como su hermano pequeño, se bañan en los aguaceros, retozan en el suelo con los animales, juegan en la tierra… en fin, se divierten como todo niño feliz debe hacerlo. Desde entonces, muy contadas veces se nos han enfermado. Y cuando lo hacen, su malestar dura un par de días, cuando más. De hecho, su padre y yo nos hemos enfermado y ellos no.
Y de ahí se deriva el otro milagro: nos sorprenden con sus cosas cada día de esta vida. Son niños educados, leen, sacan las mejores notas, se portan bien… pero son niños y hacen cosas inimaginables.

Recuerdo que el menor, cuando tenía dos años, nosotros lo dejábamos que gateara por la casa. Un día, nuestra perra parió y nosotros los dejábamos jugar con sus cachorritos. De pronto, sentimos a los cachorros protestar más de lo acostumbrado y cuando vamos a ver qué sucedía, nos encontramos al niño chupando de la teta de la perra y sin permitirle a los perritos que mamaran también. Por eso se quejaban.
El mayor también hizo de las suyas, pero en su caso lo que hizo fue comer con el resto de los animales. Se comía su comida y la de ellos, si se demoraban. Nos costó quitarle esa mala costumbre.
Son cosas que quizás parezcan increíbles, pero sucedieron. Y, más que pensar que fueron cosas malas, yo lo que hacía era reírme y hoy en día estoy feliz de las personas en que se están convirtiendo.
Mis dos milagros son niños muy cariñosos y empáticos.
Protegen tanto a sus amigos de la escuela, como a los animales callejeros. Hoy en día, me piden comida para llevarle a los gatos que viven en la casa abandonada en la cuadra de al lado y a los perros callejeros. El otro día construyeron con ayuda de su padre, una pequeña caseta para que los animales callejeros se protejan del sol. Y eso fue idea de ellos.

Dicen que lo vieron en un video de facebook. Si van a copiar algo de internet, me alegro que sean cosas buenas.
Y me parece que ese es otro excelente milagro.
Podría estar horas y horas hablando de ellos y las maravillas que realizan a diario. Creo que todos los hijos felices e imaginativos son así, de modo que me entenderán. Hasta sus locuras me parecen las cosas más increíbles y hermosas del mundo.
Y de hecho, la mayoría de las veces, lo son.
