Fermín didn't want to leave Barça despite Chelsea's irresistible offer.
Hi community!
The Barcelona club was only going to let the midfielder leave if the player asked for it and if the English club agreed to pay at least 70 million euros for him.
The transfer window has closed, and Barça has closed with three signings and ten departures, although there could have been one more if Fermín López had accepted Chelsea's offer. However, the player has decided to stay with the Blaugrana despite the London club's insistence.
Specifically, Barça ended up earning around €22 million for players who emerged from the youth academy or were signed at a young age and didn't have a place in the first team. This is not the case with Fermín, who has shown that he has a place in this first team and that he has a future at Barcelona.
Furthermore, the Andalusian midfielder, like Casadó, never considered listening to offers from the club. In this sense, while it's true that some have considered letting Fermín go because he would solve many financial issues, there is also a large part of the club who considered him essential to Hansi Flick's project.
However, such was the confidence they placed in him that both the German coach and the Catalan club only wanted to let him go if the player asked for it and if Chelsea's offer was irresistible, with a minimum fee of 70 million euros.
What's also a reality is that the El Campillo native has had a tough time. Offers for him began arriving at the beginning of the summer, although he declined to hear anything. However, Chelsea's offer was practically impossible to refuse because they accepted all the conditions the player and his agent had set for the club.
He also didn't take too kindly to Flick's decision not to play him in the second La Liga match against Levante, something that happened again last weekend against Rayo Vallecano. Therefore, the fact that Fermín is still at Barça today is thanks to the player himself, who refused to let go of other teams.
See You soon!
