Confirmed: Barça plays the Gamper match at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
Hi community!
The initial intention was to play the match on August 10 at the Spotify Camp Nou.
It's official. Barça will play the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. A few days ago, the Catalan club confirmed that the Spotify Camp Nou would not be able to host Hansi Flick's team presentation match because the renovation work has not progressed as expected and the City Council has not provided the necessary permits for its reopening. This morning, the club announced the new venue for the friendly against Como.

The Italian Serie A side, coached by Cesc Fàbregas and featuring Sergi Roberto and Àlex Valle, will be the opponent in the 60th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy, which will be played on August 10, starting at 9:00 PM, at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. Initially, the match was scheduled to be played at the Spotify Camp Nou, and the club even launched a massive advertising campaign for the return to the Barça home. However, the pitch next to the Ciutat Esportiva de Barcelona will ultimately host the friendly. This isn't the first time, however, that the tournament has been held at Sant Joan Despí: in 2021, the men's and women's first teams played Juventus in a double-header.
Opened on August 27, 2019, the Estadi Johan Cruyff hosts matches for the Women's team, Barça B, and some youth teams. It has a capacity of 6,000: 5,000 in the upper stand and 1,000 in the lower stand. Laporta's board intended for the Camp Nou to have a capacity of 30,000 for the match against Como. However, the Catalans' return home has had to be delayed, and there is no specific return date, despite the club's excellent campaign just a few weeks ago.
As usual, the match against Como, who were one of the surprise teams in Serie A last season and have never faced Barça, will serve as the presentation of the Barça squad to the Barça fans. It will also be the fourth and final friendly match of the summer. This Thursday, Flick's team will depart for their tour of Asia, where they will face Vissel Kobe in Japan, and later in South Korea, FC Seoul and Daegu FC. The next match, after the Italian team, will be made official: Barcelona will kick off LaLiga on August 16 in Mallorca.
See You soon!
