Back With An Update, Both Good And Bad

Good afternoon to you all and thanks for stopping by and supporting us.

It's been a very long time since my last post unfortunately, but I'm finally back with an update about the Hive-woodpeckers.
The reason for the slow updates on the Hive-Woodpeckers is that I have been trying extremely hard to raise funds to allow the Hive-Woodpeckers to continue in person. Unfortunately this is no longer viable due to the cost of running the Hive-Woodpeckers with the insurance costs alone going into the thousands. This has made it not sustainable to continue to run the
Hive-Woodpeckers for the continued future.

But this is not going to stop me from trying to keep the High Woodpeckers going So I have been slowly trying to collect cheap hand tools so that the kids can use them at home.
This will allow me to make small kits for the kids that I can drop off to them or the parents come and pick them up.

The trial kits that I have created and already seen some success with are basically small bits you build. Using glue, screws, nails and the like. With everything being pre drilled and marked, this will allow the kids to work independently. Alongside the physical materials to actually make the products come to life, I have also added instructions with step by step instructions. If they come into any problems they have all of my contact details so they won't be on their own.

The biggest issue that I am facing is having the tools and the hardware because it's not easy or cheap to get the hardware, but also I am trusting people to not abuse the tools, to not sell them or give them away or things like that.
Unfortunately it has already happened and there is always a chance that it could happen again. Sadly the reason for them being taken off of the children was that the parents had no money so they decided to sell them.
Yes it was only a couple of pounds worth, but that couple of pounds has taken me a hell of a long time to get together having the time to surf the Internet. Facebook Marketplace has been great for this, But it takes time and between family life, home life and trying to keep the Hive-Woodpeckers going. Everything that has been going on it has been a rough experience for myself and questioned if I should continue or not.

But I do wish to give it another chance and I'm hoping that after my recent chats with the families that are still wanting to be involved and also other families who want to be involved, that there is some trust element that can be built up together so that we can continue this project and keep these kids doing something that they really enjoy without the risks of me losing everything.

A big downside that has actually thrown a very large spanner in the works is that yesterday I found out that I will be losing my job shortly. The legal aspect is going to stop me from being able to work for a while.
Which is always fun but now it's going to be a legal minefield so my income will now be pretty much zeroed so I will be looking to the charity that I work with to hopefully help with backing us.
There is still the hope that they will help because they have admitted that it has helped some of the more vulnerable children that have had a lot of issues going on in their lives, from school, home, and social issues.
One family have told me how much the Hive-Woodpeckers has affected their child and the changes in them have followed through to their home and school life.
This has made a world of difference to me and reaffirmed that attempting to continue will in their best interests.

The plus side of not having a job is I may have a bit extra time while I am trying to fight the company that is removing me and the legal battle will be quite harsh. I am expecting this to be quite an overpowering to experience for me if I'm honest and I'm not looking forward to it.
But it will give me time to continue working on the Hive-Woodpeckers with the hope that I can what material we currently have on hand. I may be able to create something out of this very miserable part of my life that will continue to influence the kids lives.
My main part that's holding me back is the funding like I say, so I will be trying to scrape together some free stuff that I can find I said on Facebook marketplace and things like that.

If anyone that is in the UK has any ideas of how I go about finding free tools please do let me know. Facebook marketplace and the free groups on there have all been ransacked so far by me.
But I'm always open to looking for new avenues that I can get stuff to help us continuing onwards.
